View Full Version : I BEAT THE ROCK MONSTER!!!

After nearly a decade of attempts, I have FINALLY beaten the Rock Monster im Mega Man 1!!! I was so shocked that I acutally dropped my controller and sat there, jaw dropped, then started screaming for joy, which rather startled my wife, who thinks I'm insane now.
Anyway, I am satisfied with gaming in a way I haven't been in years! It's like...the first time you have sex or something! :) A giant weight has been lifted from my shoulders....
Yay!!

meh, I just used the pause cheat, beat it in like 2 hits.

Congrats! Anyone who uses the pause trick has not TRULY defeated the Rock Monster. They aren't as cool as maxlords. More intelligent? Perhaps. Less frustrated? Heck yeah. Less wasteful of their precious time? Sure, but my point is that they, uh... well I forget.
I beat the Rock Monster legitimately the first time I played through the game, before I knew about the pause trick. Now, whenever I play MM1, I always *try* to beat the Rock Monster without the trick, but always end up giving up and cheating my soul away. :)

Good job man, the rock monster is still something I have yet to accomplish in my copy of Mega Man! :D

Oh, sure, I've beaten him (it?) before without cheating, but in these fast paced times, I demand instant gratification.

There's no pause trick on the Genesis version.

Great! I'm also a crappy 2D Platformer gamer.. Only Megaman i haven't finished was 5 (sold my copy :( ) Now try to finish Wizzard&Warriors III.. O_O

Wizards and Warriors III Is damn hard, but is one of my favorite NES games, I like the job switching ability, but because the whole game is vertical, it hurts your eyes after awhile.
As for Mega Man 1, I never had a problem with the Rock monster, but I had a problem In Dr. Wiley's castle with those damn platforms that hover over the spikes and shoot stuff at you, I could never beat that. They always shot me off the ledge, and into the spikes!! x_x

Those suck! Have you tried using the Magnet Beam (creates floating platforms) from Elecman's level? :) By the way, while I did beat the Rock Monster, I can't beat evil Mega Man...he kicks my ass 6 ways to Sunday every time! D'oh!

The Evil Megaman is the troublemaker for me, too. I found that using the weapon Flame Man gives you works best- I try to hop over him and fire it, creates a circular fire shield that whacks him several times at once.

Actually, rock monster is the name Nintendo Power gave him, Capcom's official name is the Yellow Devil, green boss in MM8 is the Jello Devil, MMX5 has the Black Devil, etc.
