The latest column by Lore Sjoberg on wired.com is all about being a console fanboy. Texts like this one is why I love reading wired.com...

It does seem kinda obvious to those of us who've been going to gaming boards forever, but for newcomers, he pretty much summarizes it.

How can you be a fanboy? Do they get discounts at Denny's?

Haha LOL

Good reading, so true what he says :)

Everyone's Biased but You

Most true thing ever. If there's one thing more annoying than a "fanboy," it's people who try to make their opinion seem superior by calling everyone else fanboys. This makes up about 90% of the reviewers on GameFAQs.

I know some people who are close to or are fanboys. The section about 'everyone's biased but you' is particularly true.

If they did offer a discount at Denny's for being a fanboy, I might consider becomming one! :-P

Maybe I got the definition all wrong, but I've always considered myself a huge videogame fanboy in light of the fact that I'm a complete whore for any and every console :)

What would be more funny would be "Fanboyism: A Historical Prospective". Two gamers feud over which TV pong system is better (i.e. My Telstar pwns your Tandy) LOL

Very funny, the sig is my favorite part.

Born helpless, nude and unable to provide for himself, Lore Sjöberg eventually overcame these handicaps to defend the Nintendo Virtual Boy against all who would defame its legacy.

Actually I'd say this "post-modern" critique of the fanboy debate is more annoying than anything. Let's not compilcate things.

:) Well, I'm a fanboy no doubt, but I disagree about the dude saying a fanboy thinks his system of choice has no flaws.

The only "flaws" the Dreamcast had was that masses of idiot casual gamers blindly bought the PS2 because you could get a DVD player AND a new Playstation ("OMG! What is this newfangled DVD thingee?" gasped Mom & Dads) and Sega of Japan was so pissed the DC was doing the best in the US they pulled the plug altogether (don't believe me? Read up on why Sonic Xtreme for the Saturn never materialized) - if you think any of other reasons truly killed the best system ever (it's a fact - it was YEARS ahead of its time in EVERY way!), then please, go walk in traffic....DURRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
