I'm wondering if the NetLink gear originally came sealed in plastic. I have the modem, mouse, and keyboard adapter all apparently new and sealed in plastic. However, I suspect that this isn't how they were originally sold because of the way it is done and because all the boxes are made to hang on a rack. Anyone know?

The reason it matters to me is that I plan to sell them. But since they are sealed I don't know what is in them. I'm 99.9% sure they are what they should be, but I don't want to sell them to someone and have them tell me that it just had rocks in it. Okay to open and have a look? Or are they worth enough more to someone sealed that I should sell 'as-is'? I know these don't go for that much in general, but I'm curious what you all think.

Honestly, not sure. I did try to order one from an Amazon Marketplace seller recently and it was supposedly New. However, instead all I got was a Netlink Keyboard Adapter (fortunately, I was refunded)! It was wrapped in plastic, although opened on the top. So I'm not sure if that is any indication of the actual Netlink being in plastic, but that does seem to make it more likely if Sega was shrinkwrapping some of the related hardware.

As a side note, will these still connect to the internet, and if so, do any of the games still work with it (not that anyone is on there to play with)? I've been considering buying one just for the novelty of it.... Maybe cancel my Xbox Live subscription and play Duke Nukem 3D on Netlink for the rest of my life.

PSXferrari,
I'm unsure if the internet functionality still works. It is dial up only and since I no longer have dial up I cannot check. "Online" gaming however, still works. You play games over the netlink via direct dial. In other words, you hook the netlink up to your phone line, input your opponents phone number and you play. There are no servers to deal with, thus the reason it still works. The only downside is the long distance charges. I haven't done it in a while but I don't see why it wouldn't work anymore.

Unless you have unlimited long distance. :)

I've seriously thought about buying a netlink but it would be opened and used, not kept sealed. The real problem is most net-link editioned games are expensive since less common and the special additional feature. All I can really say about pricing is if you're unsure or if it didn't come this way, expect it to sell for a few bucks more than a boxed one.

Sometimes they aren't listed as net-link, sometimes they're hidden in lots. When it's obvious they'll be getting bids quite a bit higher than the regular titles.

Well, I bought 6 netlink mice there were sold as new to me, all of which had a plastic seal on them if that helps.
