My local K-Mart is closing it's doors forever. They have their video game Kiosk set up for sale for $1,500. It has three monitors, an X-Box, and a Gamecube. Too rich for my blood, but out of curosity what do you think this thing will be worth in a few years? Keeping in mind that the X-Box is not like a normal X-Box... it's one of the special Kiosk ones that Microsoft put out.

How exactly is this Kiosk XBOX "special", and my Kmart is also closing down, but when I was there about a month ago, they werent selling theirs, but they do have 30% of their games!

That's what I was thinking. I might... MIGHT... go $500 for the setup, just because it looks incredibly neat, but the assholes said that if they didn't get the $1,500 for it, they're just going to trash it. I asked "Why do that? $500 is better then nothing." They basically called me cheap and said that if I didn't pay $1,500 for it, I didn't deserve it. Yikes, I wonder why on earth they are going out of business.

It all depends on who's handling the closeouts. But they should be selling all the fixtures (I did buy the K-Mart video game shelving area for $300. Not the games, just shelves and the displays). I can pick them up after they close the store on April 15th. And my wife bought some of the fixtures in the gardening area for our garage. Yeah, everyone with a K-Mart closing down, go and check it out. They DID give me a complete set of Gamecube Kiosks (all the way through version 9) complete... and the version 9 disc (with Zelda) was never opened. I paid $100 for the set and they thought I was nuts lol.

save yourself 1,500 and pick it out of the dumpster for free

That same PS2/GC/XBOX kiosk is currently available for $500 at my local K-Mart.

@willie: I think it was implied that they were offended that I wouldn't pay $1,500 for it and they would rather junk it then sell it to me for less. I don't think they're actually going to trash it.

If you wait, 4 things could happen:
1: someone actually buys it for $1500
2: it gets junked but after they're stripped of the console and monitors.
3: the whole thing gets junked intact.
4: they're chopped and destroyed.

You could try different Kmarts if there's another nearby store going out of business or you could go back and bug them. 3 decent monitors could be worth $100-$150 each (new) and 2 of the console are worth $200 new and GC $150 new. So the whole thing could have been worth at least $1000 *new*, see if you can point that out to the dimwitted employees. Or better yet go higher up and find the store director and talk with him.

As for me, I'll stick to dumpster diving. ;).

The other K-Mart in town... whoever is handling the liquidation of their assets claimed all the fixtures for themselves and some employee claimed all the kiosk discs, otherwise I would have them lol.

Are these Big K-marts or are they the super K-marts that are closing by you?
The Super K's are the ones closing by me (I'm planning to go there this week
to buy some stuff(clothes, star wars stuff...)
Too bad there are no Jaguar games in these stores it would be cool to get a bunch of them for cheap. :)
