I am.
I know it's a bit strange for me to enjoy Resistance much more than Gears of War, but playtime doesn't lie. I haven't touched my Gears disk in nearly a month, yet it seems I'm compelled to pop Resistance in every other day. Really, everytime I sit down to use my PS3, I'm popping Resistance in at some point. Gears has won many Game of the Year 2006 awards, and I don't think Resistance has ever got a sniff at any awards, yet I find Resistance much more satisfying. When I first started playing Resistance and Gears, my take was exactly opposite. I thought Gears was lightyears ahead of R:FOM in every department, but the deeper I've gotten into Resistance, my take has changed dramatically.
Resistance get's the short end of the stick quite a bit due to the fact that it doesn't do anything particularly extrordinary. Some might even label it your typical run of the mill shooter. The graphics are good, but not mind blowing. In fact, considering all the hype surrounding the PS3, the graphics are even a slight let down. (further I've gotten into Resistance, the more I'm starting to appreciate the visuals and artistic syle). The gameplay is solid, yet it doesn't really break any new ground. It does have some very interesting weapons, and the 40 player online component is a first for console based multiplayer gaming, but other than that, it's very similar to many shooters we've all played before. I've heard Resistance labeled as a mix of Half-Life 2, Timesplitters and Call of Duty 2, and I can see why it's labeled as such. Playing the game, you can see that Insomniac has borrowed from many of the best shooters of recent memory.
I'm not trying to diminish anything that Gears has brought to the table. Gears is still an absolutely excellent piece of software. A true showpiece game for the 360. I guess it's just more of a different strokes for different folks type of thing. I'm more of the run and gun type of guy, than the stop and pop type. Constantly popping in and out of cover is an interesting play mechanic, but I enjoy the classic FPS style more. Anyways, I was just curious if anybody else had come to a similar conclusion.

FWIW, I thought Resistance was fantastic. More fun than Gears? Dunno. But certainly a great and rewarding game. First two levels doth suck, though.

I haven't played either for more than 20 min (seriously, I'm lucky to even have time for that), but I found myself getting wailed on in Resistance way faster. The enemies have good AI, but I can't really figure out the damage/healing part of it. Maybe I haven't played long enough, but that's a key dynamic to all yer FPSes. I really like that in Halo, as you can run and gun if you can wait a minute to rejuvenate. I haven't had a problem with damage in Gears yet, and that's more encouraging. I like the cover thing too, although I haven't been able to figure it out. I think given this early juncture, I'll be playing GoW through before I finish Resistance. If I finish either.
This should have been a poll, y'know.

Resistance is brilliant online. The Single Player was meh, average at best (though one section was awesome), but multiplayer is where it shines. I havent played in a while, but this was the game that made me stop playing Gears. I love the fast, hectic action that Resistance provides. Gears just got old too fast for me. I had awesome stats in Team Ranked matches for the period that I played, I was a killing machine.

Resistance I thought was average for singleplayer. There were too many invisable walls for my liking in Resistance. I should be able to go anywhere I want to go in a shooter, Farcry PC spoiled me like that. Having to go a certain path in a tight space gets old all the time. Other than that Resistance is a great game.

I probably would if I had Resistance. I gave up playing Gears because of my online experience. I never play ranked matches only player because I dont want to deal with the asses bot their are just as many on player matches. Always crying about kills being stolen and just acting like asses. If someone downs an opponent right next to me and they are on the other end with a sniper rifle than yes I will finish the guy. I am not gonna wait for that person to hopefully make it before the guy recovers. Then they bitch about it the entire match.

I used to love beating some guy on gears of war that thought he was "bad ass".
The tone of his voice would change from Conan grabbing his sack to Dilbert with a pocket protector.
Honestly, the community in gears of war was such a bunch of whiney gamers. There were few cool people, but the game was just too quick and the downtime didn't help.
I'm liking Resistance more cause of 40 player matches with no lag, and no downtime. Once a match ends the next one begins.
Gears of War was great but was broken in too many ways to make it a truly worthwhile experience.

You are the definition of insanity. Gears of War is a trimph; Resistance is trash. You have zero taste in anything.

Can you come over and adjust the rabit ears on my wireless set? My stories look all ghostie. I'll make you a piping hot bowl of Quaker Oats and we can test for diabeets together. I'll even show you my war scars.

I like both games, and I think I have given both just about equal play time. There is one game that I have given even more to however, and that is F.E.A.R. I don't know what it is, but I am addicted to the game. I can't wait for the PS3 release. It'll be an instant purchase for me.
EDIT: 6 days later:
I have been playing Resistance now constantly, and I see what you meant. It may start out average, but man, get into this game and it really rocks. I can't get enough. After some practice, I am no longer getting creamed in minutes, but rather blowing through entire scenes without dying. I love the fact that there are many locations with ammo and health (and actually how the health system works). Seems to me in Gears I found myself running out of ammo and not finding more for ages. This game is very well thought out, graphically beautiful (especially in later levels) and a blast to play. Yeah, GoW is collecting some dust on my end too...
