Just got a 1600 points card today and it has been a while since I purchased anything from the Live Arcade. I see that they added a ton of new stuff since I downloaded anything last....just wondering what's good right now and if anyone can offer some suggestions.

I have a modded Xbox with MAME, so I'm not really interested in any buying arcade conversions unless it has some great Live multiplayer action. TMNT is a possibility but is there anything else I should look into?

If you don't have Geometry Wars yet, download it now! Easily the best thing on Live Arcade.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention which ones I already have. Got Geometry Wars. Fun game but I'm terrible at it. Haven't even unlocked the 250,000 pts achievement yet. Here's what else I have:

Street Fighter 2
Robotron
Joust
Uno
Bankshot Billiards

Is Worms worth checking out? I've never played it before, so I don't know anything about it. I was thinking about saving this card for the R6 Vegas map pack coming out soon, but I gotta buy at least one game with it.

Worms is pretty good for the 800 points, though tbh the highlight of XBLA looks set to be Space Giraffe, though that's months away- still though, keep 400 points behind for when it does come out. :)

TMNT is up in about 12 hours. :P

You need Mutant Storm.

Worms and Alien Hominid HD are both excellant

for some shooter action, Heavy Weapon is cool.

I know you said you didn't really care about arcade ports, but I think the xbla version of Tapper is awsome.

I would get Assault Hereos, TMNT, and any other 400 point game.

Best game is Geometry Wars, which you mentioned having (don't worry, I suck at it too). Personally a huge Contra fan, although you say you don't want arcade games. The best non-arcade game is probably Assault Heroes. Awesome action and co-op, though it is a short game. And don't forget to have some points ready when they rerelease Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (if, like most people, you missed the classic when it was released for the PS1 10 years ago).

I just bought a card and the last five digits are not there!!! WTF?!? Now I'm on hold with Microsoft (in India of course) and I'm on hold to FUCKING Indian pop music.

WTF!?!

They had better take care of me. I don't want to go back to the store and get in an argument.

If you enjoyed Marble Madness, you'll pretty much enjoy Marble Blast Ultra too. As far as other "original" games go (non-ports), Assault Heroes is mighty solid, probably the best of the original games on XBLA. The good thing about the Arcade is that you can sample pretty much anything before you buy it, so queue up a bunch of demos and see what tickles your pickle.

Heavy Weapon & Assault Heros are my two favorite original properies on Live Arcade. They're awesome fun both single player AND online.

-Geometry Wars Evolved
-Heavy Weapon (survival mode kicks so much ass - still working on the 'survive 12 minutes' achievement)
-Alien Homonid HD

I regretted buying Worms. I get impatient wating for the computer to make his move.

Thanks for the tips. Think I'm going to check out Assault Heroes. Heavy Weapon and Homonid sounds good too but I can't decide. Guess I'll have to check the demos out.

Maybe I shoulda bought another 1600 pts card.

Yeah I dont see what the problem is when it's easy to snag the demos and give everything a decent try.

They did a pretty good job of giving you a taste of everything. Great way to lure cash out of your pocket :p

Yeah just download the demo of Assault Heroes, and you WILL buy it. No way around it, they suck you in with that first level demo. I downloaded it just for the hell of it, not expecting anything, and came away pleasantly surprised. If you don't have 800 Points to spare, DON'T try the demo.

Dude, when you're getting close to that let me catch a ride on your star. I get a seizure when I approach the 10min. mark because of all the shit flying around.

I agree, that game blew my socks off. It's just WAY cooler than what you'd expect. It has some pretty fun achievements as well.

That's what I need to do is just play it on co-op. I've been trying to get it playing Arms Race, by myself. My record is a little over 11 minutes. After that, if you don't have any nukes, you're in serious trouble. Even fully armed.

I'm the same way. Usually around the 10th minute or soon after, the 'fat-boy' bombers (the ones that drop the nukes), and the sattelites come out and pulverize me.

I don't even think it's possible to get the 12 minute achievement playing solo. I got it the first time I played co-op. The four of us ended up making it to 17 minutes or so. As long as 1 player is still alive the others can respawn infinitely.

Oh I HATE those fuckers. You have to attend to them like crying babies, at the expense of everything around you. Real brutal bastards them. And the satellite combo they usually pair with is just like a big f-you to boot. And yeah, I'm pretty sure the 12min. accomplishment has to be done online.

That's funny, because the closest I ever got was the first time I played online co-op. With like 3 teeangers who were taking bong hits. Whatever works.

Doom kicks ass. I have Doom for just about everything it was on and I still bought on XBLA
