View Full Version : Seller says it's shipped, USPS says not so much...

Here's the short story:

I won a BIN on ebay for a new bluetooth headset. Seller said it shipped on 3/4/07 via USPS First Class. The company is about 150 miles from me, so it shouldn't take too long.

Fast forward to today, still no headset. I sent an email last friday saying that I would wait until today for the item to arrive, or we'd have to discuss options. In the meantime, I called my local post office to have them track the package. Turns out that it was never dropped off to ship to me!!!

I IM'ed the proprietor of the store to tell him i emailed him, and to reply, and he says that he has 2 people who handle emails, and that they're answered in the order that they are received.

Basically, he won't respond to me personally about this, and i have to wait to hear from his email goons. What should I do about this? I have a perfect ebay rating (it's less than 20, but it's still 100%), and I don't want to get neg'd if I neg him over this.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!

Well, first relax dude it's only been 10 days.

Second, USPS is not reliable and I've never trusted the tracking. I've had people send me things with USPS tracking and it arrived before USPS ever showed it shipped.

I would wait another 10 days before you begin to file anything about it. More than likely its a postal delay (happens ALL the time) and could take some time to arrive (aside from the fact it should have already according to USPS standards).

I'm in the same boat as Darth, I've sent things that have arrived before my tracking # shows that it was actually sent.

OK, so I got an email back from the "email people". This is what they wrote:

"hi there, believe it or not we have a direct shipping center located
10 miles from our warehouse and the hundreds of packages that are
shippe dout dialy are tken directly there to prevent them from sitting
at the post office all day, however htye don't scan them in there,
however, i looked up your purchase and we have had a few people from
tht day not received their packages yet, so we ahve contacted our USPS
representative and i will put you on the list, however, i hope it gets
there soon, so be patient with them"

btw, this is the store that I bought it from:

Thanks again.

No caps... that's nice customer service.

However, if that's the only thing you noticed, however I'd say you didn't read it closely enough. :)

I too have had issues with USPS tracking, especially if it is done over the web as oppsed to dropping the package off at the post office. I have to come to rely on them only to notify me that the package has been delivered and not the status during shipment. From what I was told at my local PO, the purpose is delivery confimation not tracking during shipment.

This is true. The only true guaranteed itemized tracking USPS provides is the Express Mail. All DC does is say that it was delivered (hopefully to the right address!), and it can be very late in saying so online.
