View Full Version : Sega 32X Video Problem

I just hooked up my Sega Model 1/Sega CD Model 2/32X combo and I'm getting no picture. I can hear sound so I know the game is working, but nothing is appearing on the screen. I know it was working a few months ago when I put it away, so I can't see what the problem is. I'd guess it's the A/V cable from the 32X, but it looks just fine. Any ideas?

Ok upon further research I've discovered I get sound from Genesis and Sega CD games and absolutely nothing from 32X games. I think this means my 32X is fried because it's just a passthrough for regular Genesis games (although I believe it does produce the video) and that would explain why they give me sound and no picture. This would also explain why I'm getting nothing from 32X games. As I remember it was acting odd before I put it away (overheating I think) so it wouldn't surprise me if it died. Any one have this trouble?

Near the bottom of the page, concerning the ribbon cables inside. Sounds like you don't have much to lose, anyways.

Nice article but no dice. This thing is fried. No video but I get sound. Time to spend that $15 and buy one on ebay.

Yeah,
I'm on my second 32X as well. It looks like some of them just don't last.

Well I got my second 32X at the PC4 ($12) and guess what? It didn't work either. So now I'm scratching my head wondering how everything can look right but still not work (the cables are good, the system was tested, etc.) and then I looked down at the floor and noticed that the light on the powerstrip I had the 32X power supply plugged into wasn't on. Well you probably guessed the rest by now...
Rule 1: Always check your power supply first! Arrgh!!!
Incidentally I now have a spare very much working 32X for trade.
