Every game made in the usa? I think I am crazy, but I want to try. It will take years and thousands of dollars, but who cares. I am up to it.

Dangerboy has one. I'm thinking about going for it but I only have around 400 complete PS1 games right now.

now is a great time to start grabbing them. it seems like ps1 games are on that threshold where stores are selling them on the cheap just to get rid of them but they are still readily available. for example, eb/gamestop are liquidating ps1 in a b1g1 sale. with some luck i'm sure you can find other local stores doing similar things.
i also have a hunch garage sale season will be lucrative too...but we shall see...

EB Games in my area sell some titles for $2.99 (and no they are not necessarily sports games)
Garage sales are a great way to get lots of PS1 games cheap. They are often found in with long forgotten audio CD's

Yeah Dangerboy is the only person that comes to mind with a complete US Library.
Ps1 Titles for the most part are cheap atm, but you do have to remember that the PS1 library is nearly 1300 games strong and I don't care if you find ever title for 2.99, thats still $4000 at that price and PS1 has it's fair share of $50-$100 titles.
The biggest problem I think you'll run into is finding the cheap and rare titles, there's a lot of r6-r7 that no one sells cause they don't bring a good price and you can't find them. Also finding titles in good condition is getting tough.
I'm sitting somewhere between 150 and 200 PS1 titles. I have most of the games I want at this point, and getting the other 1100 games in the library still seems a long way off to me.
good luck with you're journey, I'm sure completing this monster of a library brings with it a great sense of accomplishment.

im only around 100 titles, but then again im only really trying to complete the longbox versions of ps1 games (for right now). which i think there were only about 100 titles made in the longbox, im not for certain though. but if i see good deals on any of the other titles ill pick them up as well. i cant imagine me having a completed ps1 collection for many many years. which is unfortunate, id love to have it.

Not yet. I'm still about 500 games out from the complete released collection (before variants). Current living space doesn't allow me to get more PS games when I keep getting other gaming stuff instead (damn 4 games from complete DC collection/nonstop DS goodness and the regular new releases for the PS2/Cube/Xbox/360/Wii). Not that it matters because there arn't hardly any complete PS games around me, that is unless i'm raiding Sean Kelly's back room again. And I think i'll be beaten if I come home with stacks of PS games.

Yeah, Dangerboys PS collection is insane! I think he got a lot of them for free or for really cheap or something like that, but that doesn't make what he has done any less of a feat.

I've currently got around 170+. There's only a few US one's i still really want, like Suikoden I+II but there's still a fair few Jp only games i fancy getting.
I only keep the best stuff nowadays as i've officially run out of room.

Yeah, Dangerboys PS collection is insane!
Does anybody know how many games he has exactly? According to Sony 1335 PS1 games have been released in North America as of 31 december 2006. I am wondering if that number also includes variations or if it's only original/unique games. (also wondering about SLUS numbers handed out vs. actual released games. E.g. a game has been assigned a SLUS number but the release is cancelled)
For the interested: Europe has 1639 supposedly released games and Japan a staggering 4933...

I'd say Dangerboy himself has the most accurate answer to that. *awaits reply*
From what I understand, he continually discovers more variants that he doesn't own.

Nope. The last US PSX release was FIFA 05 in October 2004.

that old thread from 2004 is funny. dangerboy saying hes not going to collect GH? and not have a certain variant of a ps1 game? c'mon!!
i cant imagine how much this cost to achieve. looking at the shelves of games, it looks like a good portion are still sealed, suggesting they were purchased new.
and i didnt realize he had that varied a collection either, usually the focus of threads is the ps1 obsession...every time i see those shelves i am in awe.

Hey guys,
I sprained my arm, and only have access to my left, non-dominant hand. This will take forever to type one handed, so answers will be as short as possible. ^_^
1. Thanks for all the compliments! It's good to know my hunting skills are apprecaited.
2. God those pics are so out of date....I really need to update that.
3. My psx page (outdated thanks to school, work, etc) is here:
http://www.game-rave.com/psx/index.html
Once i am healed i will be attacking that site with a vengence.
4. My mem is fuzzy, and the excel file long gone but i'm almost positive the final real number of US games is like 1284ish, but no where near 1300+. I'm going assume that extra 30 to 40 'games' are actually the 2nd/3rd etc discs of games. Sony always made their multi-disc games one SCUS, while third parties had multiple ones.
No way in hell that counts long boxes / variants. though they may be counting the official 3 / 2 packs.
5. So far I've proven that as for games, I am down to the last known variant. Everything else is "still researching / does not exist arguement". Right now my goal are demos. I have complete underground and OPM, just need to finish retail and trade. And those are a *fucking bitch* because, truth be told, I may have found a "non-existing" demo finally, buried in a non-chalant auction. And it's not *that* one either. >_>;;;
Don't even get me started on Lightspan.
6. Sphinx is not lying; several of my most prized variants I found by identifying thier blurry likeness in poor photos. ^_^;;
7. The time it took to just have "1 of every game"? 5 years, from when I first truly started collecting psx to the pick-up day of Fifa 2005. Which is still sealed. Like it's release, it'll be the final game i cover on game rave.
8. To the guy collecting Japan games: I wish you the best of luck. I have US, Ataribuff has Euro complete. Finish japan and we can have a trifecta-de-load times!
9. If you're just collecting now, you will learn to hate the letters r p and g.
Hopefully this helps...need to go re-ice my arm.

Here's a link that may help people. It's actually from a project on Underground Gamer where they managed to get (over the course of a year) every psx game ripped and shared in torrents. Regardless of what you think of that, there list is definitely helpful, I want to say they have a JAP and PAL one somewhere too.

It was a jewel case version of MK3, he finally was able to get one of them, after buying like 2 or 3 partials to make one complete one over the course of a few years.

Because thats where we left it at the time. I've honestly not thought about pushing it up probably because despite its rarity, the complete lack of desire for it has just made for any lack of noise for people hunting it down and thusly complaning about it. I've bumped it up some and next rarity update it'll show changed.

It does sometimes seem like instead of a "rarity" rating, there should be separate "scarcity" and "demand" ratings, but who wants to spend the effort?

nope, this rarity is discussed on the mk3 page, after stating the mk3 jewel is the rarest variant around....this is from the review on game-rave
""""I don't toss around words like 'rare' and 'impossible to find' like most eBay users do, but right here, right now, I will tell you that you are looking at the rarest, most impossible-to-find known game variant in the US Retail PlayStation universe.
The jewel cased MK3 is your standard re-release, with the back insert having the corrected screen shot issue mentioned above. The problem is that I have only seen this variant 3 times. The first time some 10 years ago, and then the two separate eBay auctions that held pieces that made up the whole version as you see here. There's a possibility that there is one higher than this, but I can't remember if I really saw that one or it was just a figment of my imagination.""""
im wondering what the possibly existing variant is, maybe someone else has seen it.

Hrm.....
I don't think that its Space Hulk, since well we've pretty much killed off that drama, and I know that it wasn't the Syphon Filter 3 alternate cover (though I'd rank that as a not too distant second to the MK3 variant in sheer impossibility to find), the only other thing that springs to mind is the non-existant 9th Alundra Disc, despite the 'proof' of what it woulda looked like. I know that DB and QofT still like to think that there was an alternate version of Diablo with a 4 player logo, but we've been told differently by EA so I dunno. I guess we just have to wait for DB to get around to wasting another 30 minutes to type up like 3 lines with his left hand.

The new "possibility" as far as games go is a jewel case (double actually) of "Shockwave Assault", I swear by the gods of that is Kaboom that I saw AND held it in my hands as the Game Crazy near my house. I didn't buy it at the time because it didn't have a manual and i recall it being like $24 or some such nonsense.
Got home to research ebay, noticed no one had it, and when i went back a few days later, it was gone. Haven't seen it since. And now I don't know if that was a dream, a figmentive imagination, or I just have the dumbest rational when it came to not scooping something up. The MK3 was confirmed / speculated by man and finally proven...I ain't never had anyone comment on this one. Maybe it's time I make a ransom page.
EA confirmed there was no Diablo 4 player. The game ran slow-as-shit with two, I'd hate to see 4.
Victor himself claims there's no 9th disc art made, as it may have been skipped by sony's approval process for whatever reason.
As for Easter Bunny's Rarity, it's not rare, nor in demand. At any given time you can find $3/4 new copies of it on ebay. Compare that to a game like, US Pink Panther (none on ebay) and you start to see the difference. Hell, I didn't even know there was a Pink Panther game till I stumbled upon it back in the day....on ebay. >_<;;;

Good luck on getting a complete set for the ps1. Definately takes a lot of time but luckily I bought tons of them for cheap when places were clearancing them out. Plus gamestop/EB used to check the disks and most games were available complete. Today is different story, seems everything is disk only. I only need 3 games for a complete US collection (2 budget games and the fifa 2005). I'm not even trying to find all the different variants. I have enough problems finding space to display and play all of the games. Some of the games are greatest hits versions but I always tried to swap for the originals when I could but never obssessed about it. I can't even imagine trying to get a japanese ps1 collection. The amount of games for it would be more than 10 other systems collections combined. My advice is to take your time and jump on deals for lots as they lower costs considerably. But at this stage in the game, finding mint games and complete gonna be much tougher. Plus RPG games will run you a pretty penny LOL
