Electricity At Riviera Hotel

A friend just told me that he stayed at the Riviera 3 or 4 years ago and they actually charged him for the utilities that he used. Has anybody ever heard of this before? I stayed at the Riviera in 1998 when I attended the World of Atari but I stayed with two friends who were already staying there because they just happened to be visiting Las Vegas the same weekend, so I never knew what their final bill came to.

I hope that was some sort of miscommunication. I can't say I really ever heard of utilities such as electric being charged, unless they also run a trailer park adjacent to their hotel. I have been in Vegas a few times. To bigger hotels and one or two lesser. Never had a utility charge. Just the standard "donation" to various charities such as $1.00 slots, blackjack, etc.

Seems like it would be more trouble than it's worth to bother metering each room individually. That said, I have no idea, but I've never heard of it happening before. :)

According to SEAN over at CGE, all us running booths this year are being hit with a $25 a day fee ($50 for the weekend) if we want GE in the booth.

That said, it's still $50 less than the last two EXPO's we sold at ($350 vs $400). That gives me $50 to play penny slots with!

in effect several years ago, but it was a flat fee per hotel room, not anything based on actual usage. I'm sure that's what it was.
