Has anyone used one? How well do they work and are they very hard to find?

Back in the early to mid 90's I had one that required the SFC cart as well as a SNES cart to function. I can't remember the manufacturer, but it worked well and never glitched.

I have an extra adapter that is designed for a Super Famicom slot (let me know if you want this). It lets you put in two games at once, and switch between either. Either slot takes a SNES or SFC cart. Is this what you're looking for? Or, are you looking for an adapter to use SFC carts in a SNES?

I'm actually talking about the latter. A go-between for SFC carts and a North American SNES.

Try my old standby: a good old run of the mill Game Genie.

My Honeybee adapter works perfectly and it's all I ever use. I have spare SNES's and thought about cutting the tabs out of one, but the adapter has worked so flawlessly I've just never needed to. You know that it let's you play PAL games also right? The Honeybee shouldn't be too hard to find on Ebay and I would guess around $20 for a new boxed one and $10 for just the adapter. Here's a thread with a discussion about it and some pics. There's quite a few SFC exclusives that are quite enjoyable. I hope you get the chance to try some.

FYI, an XBAND modem in pass-through mode works fine as an SFC adapter, and unlike some other adapters, it handles all of the cartridge pins.

That's the kind I have. It's made by Honey Bee. They do seem to be getting on the scarce side as of late. I luckily found mine at a local game store a few months ago. They had two of them and said they'd been sitting there for quite some time. I love it. It allows me to play Crazy Climber. :D

You can get one here for $15, assuming they have them in stock:

Everything these guys have told you is correct, but for the about the same money you can get a game genie and have the added functionality of cheats and hacks. Breathe new life into some classics! But you would have to remove the guards (from the genie) as stated above by using a good pair of pliers. That's how I discovered that it worked back in the day because I didn't want to risk mangling my beloved SNES. Keep us updated on your situation. I'm interested to see how it turns out.

I thought Game Genie's needed a code to run certain games like that? Or was that when you used a game genie to bypass the lockout on the sega genesis?

Yes, for some later first party games you'll need a Must Be On code. The Game Genie also won't work with a few games that use FX or other special chips. But for most imports it'll work fine.

Then I still stand by the "clip the plastic tabs". I don't understand why you would buy a converter when the conversion is that simple.

Cool. Thanks for the link. I just ordered one. I'll find out if they have them in stock as I couldn't find any on Ebay. And, that's the exact one I had, box and everything.

it says "Now you can play your favourite European and Japanese SNES cartridges on your USA Super Nintendo system! Item is brand new and is guaranteed for 30 days!"

I thought you needed a Special Converter for it to play Euro SNES Games

Bah. It was a bust. My CC wasn't charged and they cancelled the order. Can you guess why? Yup, item was no longer in stock.

I hate when online stores don't update stock on their website.
