why is this game so expensive? does anyone know? all the other games look like they sit under 40 dollars each completed. why is this the only game that is over 100 dollars?

This was one of the last games for 32x and had a lower production run(rumored to be only 1500), this is also the case with World Series Baseball and Pitfall must be to because it goes for a good bit more than the rarity 5's.

Most 32x games are rarity 1,2and 3's Spiderman is a 7.

Take a look at the guide it helps a lot with this kind of stuff.

Yeah, this was the last 32x game released in the States (the UK-only DarXide was the final release worldwide) and I never saw it in any stores. It was never released outside of the US. I've heard the 1500 number too but I think it has to be higher. It's also a Spiderman game that was never ported to any other sustem. Lots of Spiderman fans around, especially with the new movies.

Too bad the game really isn't that good. It's pretty much a Genesis-style side-scroller with more colours.

There's two on ebay right now... I didn't know the price had risen above $120. I thought the average was around $100 for a complete copy.

There's a cart-only buy-it-now for $100 (rip off) and a complete copy currently at $180 (!!!) with 5 days left.

The last complete one went for $109.

There was a complete copy in a store that someone snagged for a incredible $30. Since then I added it to my Favorite Searches or whatever, but so far it's just flooded me with Steve Voake book emails.

Does anyone have an idea what a sealed would be worth?

1500 produced? That's so small I bet the accountants at Sega America looked at the loses and took a dump, and from the rarity guide they didn't make another Spider-Man game afterwards.

This number HAS to be an exaggeration. The suits at Sega really couldn't have believed that only 1,500 people would be interested in buying a new 32X game, even if it was the last one released. Since they told any media members who would listen that they were cutting support for systems other than Saturn, I could see WHY they didn't make many copies. However, it doesn't add up since common sense says that more than 1,500 people might have wanted to buy the game, regardless of what was going on with the Saturn or Playstation at that time. A lot of people might have traded in the 32X or got rid of it some other way but there were still a large number of them in homes when this game would have dropped.

I'd say the number produced at worst would have been 5000. That being said it is still the rarest 32x game.

Someone asked what a sealed one would go for. The last one I saw went for a little bit over $200.

I wouldn't pay that much for a sealed game. If it's sealed, I can't play it. And if I pay that much for a game, I bloody well want to play it!

I got my copy with box and manual at a flea market for $5 I couldn't believe it, one of the best finds I've ever had.

Know what's funny?

The Web of Fire covering New York in this game? Well, it was used on a miniseries that just ended - Spider-Man: Reign. The concept is the same.

If you are considering paying $200 for a game just to play it, you'd be better off buying Panzer Dragoon Saga for Sega Saturn or something like that. Of all the games that were in development, or got released in other countries, which could have come out for 32X in the United States, Sega gave us Spiderman.

you can say that again. we could have had Darxide, or Dracula X(maybe even on CD) , but we got web of Fire.

I wouldn't pay $200 for any game. I won't pay that for a complete mint system, let alone a game!

It's alright to be a cheap ass gamer, really. Just buy what you want and what you believe a fair price is for your entertainment. I'd easily drop $200 on a system if I knew it would blow me away, and that's why I don't feel bad spending that much on a computer component. Sometimes you have to spend that extra money. :)

When I said system, I meant an old school system. If the system game with a bunch of games, then I'd be more likely to spend that much.

For a new system like the Wii, I'd pay whatever the current price is, of course. I'm more likely to be blown away by a new system than an old one that's been around for forever that I have played before. I recently paid $120 for a brand new Sega CD model 2 complete and boxed. The box is a bit damaged on the two ends from humidity, but everything else was in primo condition.
