View Full Version : Well, eBay just fell short of retarded....

I've had a few international bidders email me about shipping costs. Curious about their feedback, I took their ebay names from the emails I got and put them into eBay's search engine. The Australian guy I had no problem about bringing up his f/b. But when I went to get the German girl's history, I get this:

"German privacy laws do not allow us to pass on information involving bidders from Germany. If you want to find all auctions this user has bid on, please contact the user directly by email."

Um, no...I want to know now if this person is going to potentially screw me out of money now, for an auction that ends tomorrow. So, I try to go around the system and plug her name into the Seller's search instead of buyers. BINGO! It even brings up the past auctions she's won still with live links. It's not illegal to find info on sellers is it? Even when they haven't sold anything in their eBay career? HA!

So what other loopholes have you found around eBay's "laws"?

German privacy laws (not eBay directly) are what forbid you to check up on the auctions anyone from there is currently bidding on. I guess it's one way to stop people from contacting bidders with similar items...

I know it wasn't eBay directly, but it's kind of stupid that you can go in through a seller's search to find out their f/b history and not through the bidder's search. I turned off the options to find out what they are bidding it, but it still didn't let me....odd enough.
