A Wii version? I can't wait for that :D

Hmm, I always heard that Namco wanted Katamari to remain a playstation exclusive. Maybe they've come to their senses, eh? :)

I see Katamari being a big hit on the Wii. Not because of the controls necessarily (although I really liked the dual stick controls in the first 2 games -- mind you, I haven't played the third one that came out on PSP) but because of the quirky nature of the game.

Actually I heard that Namco had planned no further releases to the series after We <3 Katamari, so this is somewhat unexpected. On one hand, I don't want to see Katamari Damacy exhaust itself as a game concept for the sake of more money (/looking at you, GTA). On the other hand, rolling Katamari is good for the soul, so the new console gen deserves to give it a shot en masse.

Hopefully any release is a bit sooner than mentioned in the link

I'd buy the 360 version over the Wii. The dual analog setup seems more appropriate for this game.
But I have to hand it to Namco. They finally wised up, and decided to give all the consoles some Katamari love.

I think the actual deal was that the game's original creator wanted no involvement beyond WLK, so it could be that they're doing it without him, which is something for which I have a hard time fending off a whole other layer of skepticism.
Not saying I doubt the news, but like you, I don't want Katamari burnout.

Pantechnicon: Me & My Katamari came out after We Love Katamari, so I don't get what you're going on about.
In any case, while I loved the first two, I don't see the franchise really supporting a ton of sequels.

I'd settle for ports. A single disc on the Xbox 360 containing 16:9 720p ports of all three original games. Just so I can play them again on my nice new HDTV. The PS2 versions don't look so hot on an HDTV. I welcome whatever they release. But would settle for straight ports released on one game disc for $40-60. The art style is made for HD. It's like watching South Park on SD on an HDTV, then downloading an HD episode off XBL reformatted for 16:9 720p. It is like a world of difference.
So, please.. at least give me a port. Hell, I haven't even played Me and My Katamari yet. And since I don't feel like wasting money on a game for my aging PSP so I can play it with crappy controls, give me the game in HD and I will be your slave for life... after I finish playing that is.

I don't really see how a wii version would work, i also don't like the idea of it being made without the original creator. Oh, katamari damacy

If they make the controls like Super Monkey Ball, count me out.
But if they opt to use the nunchuk for the actual rolling and the Wiimote for direction, I'll be all over it.
SIXAXIS implementation might be interesting, but I'd prefer the dual analog myself.

To me, the winning move for some wii katamari action would to have the classic vc controller as an option, what with the dual analog sticks and such.

I have been thinking about getting the psp one though.

Apparently the Katamari team doesnt like the Wii controller (atleast for this game).

Ye, that would be the best solution, but since the VC controller isnt standard equipment it must be optional.

Just shooting from the hip without any research, I'm thinking Tekken and Killzone.

Does it matter? Katamari will not sell systems. You can say it will, but I won't believe you.

The PSP version was horrible. I couldn't stand using the buttons to control the Prince. It's dual analog or nothing for me from here on out. I haven't really kept up on the news on this--is it coming out for the PS3 as well as the 360?

From what the newest article says it has been confirmed for both the PS3 and 360

They could use the Gamecube or the Classic Controller for the Wii version

It looks like you can roll a 10,000km Katamari in this next game. Beautiful is right! And I love the King's new outfit. Pantaloons FTW!

It looks like we won't be seeing that massive bulge in the Kings pants any more when he is talking to the Prince.
On a more serious not I could enjoy the new Katamari game for the soundtrack alone they are always amazing.

Agreed. I played it enough to finish it because I just couldn't leave it unfinished. I refused to let the crap control scheme get the best of me.
+1 eagerly awaiting the 360 version and what the achievements will be.

Not by itself. Two or three exclusive games of the same calibur might convince a few gamers to buy one though.

Katamari is one of my favorite series, and I bought a PSP for it and don't regret it. So take that for what you will Oob ;). Hell I had the game (and the Prince PSP holder) before I had my PSP. I wasn't loving the controls at first, but I got used to them quickly enough and played the game into the ground.
Back on topic.
I can't wait for this to release. Good reviews/bad reviews it doesn't matter to me. I just hope and pray that there is a new soundtrack to this game, not the reusing of an old soundtrack (i'm looking at you Me & My Katamari).
