I put in "rare Gamecube" and got it on the first page.

I did too and got 400+ topics so I didn't even bother to look, and there doesn't seem to be a way to search for topics with GameCube and rare in the title, instead you get every thread that has rare in the title and every thread that has GameCube in the title. The reason for the useless search engine comment.

Every other message board I go to has a way to specify what you're looking for, like you could enter +rare +gamecube and that would do it, but not with the software DP uses apparently. So its useless imo. :)

Try putting the two words in quotation marks as in "rare gamecube"...that usually has a search engine only come up with matches for the phrase in quotations...

So did I.

What way are you searching Leo? The easiest way is to find the subforum that the thread is most likely to be in and enter that subforum. Then on the right hand side of the page, click "Search this forum" so all you are doing is searching that one forum and not all the other forums. Otherwise, you end up with tons of Ebay and selling threads.

So since it is about rare Gamecube games, it would either be in Classic or Modern Gaming. That depends on where someone decides to post it. This rules out just about everything else. For the purpose of that thread, it WAS in Modern Gaming. But for anything having to do with gaming, you've really got to search both because people tend to post stuff in the wrong gaming forum and sometimes things overlap. From time to time, threads in Classic Gaming might make reference to the Gamecube or Wii and threads in Modern Gaming might mention a system like the Sega Genesis, particularly with new Sega collections and Sega games becoming available via download for newer systems. So search both forums and you'll usually find what you need, unless it ended up in the Classic Discussions section but that isn't likely soon for Gamecube related content.

By the way, I think there are only 25 entries per page of search results. Nice try but that isn't quite 400 :) With only 25 entries, it isn't that much trouble to scan the title of each thread since you would be able to find it easily enough.

We've already got a thread devoted to this. We don't need to continue on with people complaining about the search engine. The topic has been found and further inquiries/comments about rare cube stuff can be left there.
