Soon as my State tax refund comes in, I'm getting a Nintendo DS and a copy of Castlevania-Portrait of Ruin. But I'd like to expand that collection a little.

Any suggestions for other good games that involve little to no use of the Stylis?

It probably depends on your gaming interests. Some games you can use the stylus but can do well without it, like the puzzle game Zoo Keeper. I don't recall using it much, if at all, on New Super Mario Bros. I don't really have that many games for it yet so perhaps some others can add suggestions of their own.

I just bought a DS this afternoon :) The only game I have so far is Mario Hoops 3 on 3 which uses the stylus but can be reconfigured to use just the buttons. Loving it so far but am getting used to the stylus.

As soon as I get my money from Ebay I am going to buy a few more games so am looking for reccomendations as well.

Well, I haven't played it, yet, but I've heard unanimously good reviews about Castlevania-Portrait of Ruin. Might explain why it's gonna be the first title I'm getting.

Here are some amazing games that do not use the stylus:

Advance Wars <-- If you like strategy games, even just a little bit, you will love advance wars.

Animal Crossing - It's just like the GC version so if you are bored of that you will get bored of this one real quick... if not, go for it!

Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time - If you played Mario and luigi: super star saga on the GBA there isn't a ton different here, but it is a new game and incredibly fun and pretty humorous in parts too.

Metroid Prime Hunters - I always used it without the stylus and prefer the control that way and it's a great game too, especially if you enjoyed Metroid Prime on the GC.

New Super Mario Bros. - Old school Mario at it's finest with a new twist!

Mario Kart DS - Not like double dash, but the good stuff like the original. To be fair though, double dash did have its moments.

Super Mario 64 - 150 stars this time and still just as fun as the N64 version.

Yoshi's Island DS - I absolutely loved Yoshi's Island on the SNES and practically died when I saw what they did to it on the N64, but they brought it back on the DS and it's fantastic.

Elite Beat Agents - YOU MUST USE THE STYLUS - Just wanted to make it clear that you have to, but omg this game is wonderful. It's so fun to play and you can't ever seem to put it down even when you are getting no where in a song. Most EB's and Best Buy's have this game in the kiosk, do yourself a favor and just check it out if you haven't already. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Well as it turns out, I've actually listed my entire DS collection and 8/9 don't use the stylus, or don't require you to. Congrats on your new DS... well almost. Have fun!

Get Mario Kart DS...A must have game.

In response to him saying elite beat agents is a must have...it isn't. It's a really fun game and completely hilarious the first time you play through...but has no replay value. Once I beat it I was happy and tried to go back and play some more but it was just too boring. Maybe you could borrow it from someone and just play it through once.

Anyways my top suggestion is Rocket Slime. Great game and you never have to use the stylus.

Good times with the stylist, just don't think after playing the game that you really can perform surgery on others.

Phoenix Wright is a good route if you want a game that's just a few hours long, only problem is replay value but there's a sequal out now.

Puyo Fever, Bust-A-Move and Tetris are good puzzle games to grab, and the single-cart play makes it great when you're with friends.

Final Fantasy III thus far has been pretty nice. Rocket Slim is also considered a great RPG and keep your eyes open for Dragon Quest X, whenever that's set to be released.

Trauma Center is a good game but the stylus is all you use.

Phoenix Wright was eh. The stories are mediokre and investigating is ungodly tedious. Being in court is fun though.

FFIII definately isn't worth the money it costs.

SNK vs. Capcom cardfighters will hopefully be coming out next month and if it's anything like the first....it will be fantastic.

I'd reccamend Super Princess Peach (All you'll use the stylus (or your finger) for is changing Peach's mood to get past obsticles)

Clubhouse games is a good title, lots of variety. It is all stylus, but nothing more than point and click type actions.

You said it best, so I am going to say, yeah, these ones are good.

I have to also recommend New Super Mario Bros. Awesome 2D Mario. Animal Crossing is also a fun and quirky game. Even though you said you didn't want to use the stylus I have to highly recommend Trauma Center: Under the Knife and also Cooking Mama, both of which use the stylus pen for everything. Both are very fun and creative.

I guess the main reason why I wanted games that involved little-to-no use of the stylus was because I'd like to avoid scratching the hell out of my screens.

Anyway, I found some good suggestions. Thanks, everyone.

Yeah, I don't like scratching my screen either. With those two games I suggested I have made some small scratches on it. I haven't bought a protective screen for it yet. That should help. So, I suggest buying one on day 1 :)

The state tax came today, so tomorrow, I'll be the proud owner of a DS Lite, most likely Onyx Black, and a copy of Castlevania PoR. And, if I got enough left over, I may even spring for a recommendation or two that you, the members of the Roundtable, have so generously offered me. (Maybe a couple when I get my Federal tax refund.) Thanks again, y'all. Those were some good ideas. :)

And another thanks for NOT recommending anything Pokemon.

Hmmm weird I bought an onyx ds lite, and have the portrait of ruin gift set coming in the mail :o

I did buy Mario Kart and it is a lot of fun :) no real need for the stylus at all.

You should buy a lint free lens cloth as it is very useful in safely cleaning the screens :)

Just bought mine, several hours ago. It was only available in white, but that's no big deal. As long as it plays games, it'll work.

And what I heard about Castlevania: PoR is true. This game fucking rules!
