I think most of it's handful of games ended up coming out on cart anyway. What do you feel is the future collector value of this thing? A future 3D imager or a worthless add on?

Wow, those exist?

I thought it was canned before it even came out.

What are they anyway? I always see them on ebay and thought they were some kind of developers system...

I've got one but no games with it. Other then Doshin the Giant, I'm not even sure what games came out for it. I think there is only, like, four.

I believe there are 8 or 9 titles available for the 64DD. I have all of them apart from World Tour Golf 64. Anyone with a copy let me know :)

There IS a developer's version of the 64DD available but they are quite hard to find. A lot harder. I've seen a couple on eBay over the years. But the normal machine is readily there most of the time. I got my whole bundle for $300 which was a pretty good price I though.

F-Zero X expansion kit really is the business. Pity you need a Japanese copy of F-Zero X for it to work... thankfully I already had that when I bought my 64DD lot... 2 extra cups and a course editor. Damn good stuff 8-)

IIRC there were like 6 or 7 disks for the system to go with games like Zelda (ura Zelda) but they flopped in Japan and it never came out in USA>

I had thought of getting one myself but what's the point? They never came out in Japan and I'd still need Japanese cart to use the disks.

Ok, i found a old thread on this, so I didn't start a new one. Does anyone have a N64 DD? I saw some of the movies of some of the programs, and they look pretty cool. Would it be worth it to buy one of these?

By the way Dev 64DD and normal 64DD are incompatible so you can only run blue Dev disk on Dev 64DD and retail 64DD disc on retail 64DD... really unless you have unreleased beta on blue disc and have full dev setup inc. workstation you'd better off with normal 64DD...

when you get 64DD you also need Randnet packages that inc. smoke LE N64 console, modem as well as number titles...

The initial outlay would be around $500-700 depends where you shop and how complete the package is...

as far as I know 64DD was never for sale retail but rather you sign on Randnet and you get the initial package that includes 64DD, smoke N64 and number of parts... and each month you will get new title to buy...

I believe when Randnet was shut down Nintendo tried to buy back 64DD though how many were sold back to Nintendo I have no idea...

for more info on 64DD have a look here..

I've always wanted a 64DD for shits n grins, but even when I was living in Japan (when it came out), I couldn't find one for sale. Neo Geos and PC-FXs for $30, those weren't hard to find... but a 64DD new OR used? Never seen one.

I've always wanted one, but maily for the "cool" factor that I would get from showing people that didn't know existed. "What the hell is that? An N64 that takes discs??? You're crazy."
It seems as though you can pick up complete (and even sealed) collections fairly often. I think somebody was trying to sell a complete collection in the Buy & Sell a month ago. They usually go for a lot though, so not many people are willing to spend the money for it.
I think after I complete my N64 collection (won't be for a while, cause I'm working on other things now), I might try for a complete set.

There are plenty of packages out there where you just bought the 64DD unit and the Randnet disc, no N64 included. That's the one I have. Thankfully I now have all the commercial titles released too :)
