:( You lost your account from clicking a link? Did you enter your pw into a fake site or did the link somehow steal your acct?

Ebay told me that was by clicking on the link, ive never entered any password.
The account he was using to message me was also stolen from someone elses.
Apparently ebay its having tremendous problems with this , apparently hundreds of accounts get hacked everyday.

I wonder if my account got hacked! I got a message from paypal saying a new e-mail adress had been added to my acount, but when I looked on paypal's site under my profile, I didn't see it on there. Can it be hidden somehow?

Man sorry to see that happen to you. I was watching a show a few weeks ago that was talking about these hackers that have unbelievable access to the ebay servers. They have been driving the company crazy. When ebay was called on the breach they gave the standard generic answer. It a small contain problem our techs are hot on the trail yada yada.

For almost 2 months every time I would search the vintage game section there would be a porn picture in the feature section. The funny thing was they apparently had trouble removing it. I think the breach had something to do with a paypal glitch. a certain guy really has been causing a problem google the name Vladuz. The problem is worse than we could imagine.

I hope all works out for you. You have been a class act.

If you logged into Paypal and didn't see a new email address added, that "message" from Paypal was fake. I hope you didn't click on any links in that message, because if you did, your account may have been broken into already.

I got that multiple times. It's a scam. Look at the link source (DON'T click it)

That's usually a trick to get you to log in to a fake Paypal site. Then they have your username and password. Check the source of the email to see if it was really from Paypal.

well thing is in short, if u r logged in to ebay, what usually is the case if ur working on ur own pc, that there r ways to "steal" the last cookies from ur pc and so gettin access to ur ebay. This is only possible if you click a link to a site or whatever. And then that destination will grab the cookies.

sounds weird, but its the way they do it in really short words.

This is why I hover the mouse on top of the link, and see the address in the status bar. If it looks fishy, I forward it to eBay or Paypal and see what they have to say.

Sorry to hear about your problem. :(

You don't even have to do that... Simply NEVER click on a link in an Email. I don't think PayPal will EVER send you an Email with a link in it. All the official Emails I've gotten from them just say to log into my account (it's up to me to open a browser and type in paypal.com).

Ebay, unfortunately, in their infinite stupidity have decided that embedding a link under a large yellow button is a good idea in Emails to people. So now the phising types have a legitimate way of trying to scam people...

I'd still never click on the link, just log into the site directly.

Also, get and use (excelusively) the latest version of Firefox. It catches a lot of these phising sites for you with nice, big warnings whenever it thinks it found one...
