I own both the GBA and GBA SP and notice a huge difference in the speaker quality..

I was wondering if anyone else here noticed the huge difference in speaker quality.. i.e. the GBA has a better one!

If you own one of these babies, try the following test and let me know if you notice the same thing:

1) Take out the cart from the system
2) Move the volume tab all the way to max
3) turn on the system

Gameboy Advance:

- a low "hum" is heard only if you put the system to your ear

Gameboy Advance SP:

- white noise is heard, and quite a bit even when the system is in your hand.

Can anyone else confirm this? Or do I have a defective unit?

Thanks,

LK

Im sure the optional headphone jack will fix your problem just shell out some more cash.

I mean ya had to spend another 100 bux to see the screen whats a few more to HEAR the game too?

I hear the white noise as well, however, from testing with my friends GBA, it seems the speaker in SP is louder overall anyway, so that could be part of the cause.

My GBA SP is like that too. Like WiseSalesman said, the speaker on the GBA SP is louder than the one on the GBA. That is probably the reason, since we all seem to have the same problem.

Is it wise to turn it up all the way? With the white noise, I wonder if the GBA SP can be turned up louder than it should be. I messed up the speakers on my iBook by turning it up to the maximum, even though it wasn't loud at all. Do you think that this could happen to the GBA SP? :o x_x

To tell you the truth, I mostly use my GBA on plane flights, or in quite places (like the cottage). So I almost never use the on-board speaker.. so I can't wait for the aftermark companies to release the SP headphone adapter!
