Hello all, this is my 1st post on the prototype board...please look at the attached photos. Have you ever seen these protos? 2 are for Super Nintendo - The Firemen & Nightmare Busters. I played both of these on my SNES. The other is from Mattel '82, labeled Meal? I do not have an Intellivision to test this one on. Any help with all 3 would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The Firemen I want to say came out on SNES under another name, not sure about the Nightmare game, but "Meal" should be Diner for Intellivision, but it's missing an EPROM, and I really know very little about Intelli stuff =P
If you want to sell those SNES protos, please message me ;)
EDIT: Ok, The Firemen came out in Japan by Human, but Nightmare Busters is unreleased AFAIK.

The Firemen also came out in Europe. It is a pretty decent game. Never heard of Nightmare Busters. Can you post some screenshots?

Diner wasn't even started until around 1986 or so, so I don't think the Intellivision game is Diner. Maybe Burgertime.

I found a screenshot from the January 1995 issue of Nintendo Power. It was shown at the Shoshinkai. The article doesn't really say any more than that.

Although it was never released on the snes, it did eventually make it out as Flynn's Adventures, which is a cell phone game.

If it is alright, I would like to use your pictures for the unreleased games section of my website. Any additional screenshots would be welcome.

It was made by Nichubutsu.
Did you mean Nichibutsu (http://www.nichibutsu.co.jp/)? (AKA Nihon Bussan Co.)
I looked over their release list found here (http://www.nichibutsu.co.jp/list/conlist.html) and the only SFC/SNES titles I see are Super F1 Circus (that I can recognize what they say) and I think a Mahjong game. Suffice to say, it's definitely odd to see an english game coming from them since most of their stuff looks Japan exclusive.
The Intellivision "meal" pcb is interesting. It looks like a newer-style CIB design board. Shame there's no chip on it. Did Mattel often put game titles on the pcbs? I'll ask around and see what I can find out.
I think its probably an acronym for something along the
lines of "Mattel Electronics ? Lab"

Who's to say it is an English title? There are many Japanese-only games that don't have a spec of Japanese in them, including ones from Nichibutsu. This game was shown in Japan, as I stated in my post above. Another posibility is that the developer wasn't in Japan, but in the US.

I could be wrong and haven't even played a snes game for the last year or so until last week, but wasn't ignition factor the USA release of firemen?
Nice Proto's by the way.

Nope. Ignition Factor was the US version of Fire Fighting.

Thanks once again to all of you who took time out to answer some questions about the SNES prototypes. I have decided to list both of them on ebay. When they are listed, I will post the item numbers here.

List them carefully. eBay takes them down if you are not careful.

Typically if you use the word "demo" instead of prototype there isn't a problem
DuoFan

Ok, but if I use the word Demo and leave out Prototype, how will people searching for protos find them??

The only problem with using the word Prototype is that the Ebay storm troopers tend to pull down auctions with this term since it is against Ebay policy to sell beta versions of games. You might want to try using the terms "Development", or "Sample", or "Demo", it is a difficult balance between keeping your listing up and having it pulled. Though I recently did see an auction use the term prototype for a Mega Man NES cart and it wasn't pulled. So you might want to just put it up using prototype and see what happens. Though from what I have seen any time the word prototype is used in the listing header the auction tends to get pulled.

I have really appreciated all your input with these prototypes. They were just listed on ebay for 99 cents no reserve! Too hard to put a price on these so I will let all of you decide. These are the ebay item numbers. Please check them out.

I'll talk to Sean Kelly to see if he knows anything if I get a chance to see him. Good finds.

Thanks Vintage! I actually showed Sean all 3 of these items a few months ago and he was not sure what they were.

I recently got an Intellivision and tried to test it out, but nothing happened. I figured it was missing something.

And the great people at ebay decided to take my listings down for Nightmare Busters and Firemen...even though I listed them as DEMO and not PROTO. This sucks!! Any offers??

I think you might have to go a bit higher than that.

Bingo. I thought I saw a screenshot (perhaps on that now-defunct auction) that mentioned Arcade Zone, who, from what I can gather, was some French (?) developer made up of at least two guys (Carlo Perconti and Lyes Belaidouni).
Arcade Zone also did "Iron Commando" (released in Japan only) and "Legend," both for the Super Famicom/Super NES.
