I am SO behind of Modern gaming. My most modern console is a Dreamcast. I found a Gamecube a few days ago in a trash can and I have gone apeshit for Resident Evil 4.
Are there any games out there that copy its style? I'll even take crappy ones. I'm getting a 360 or a PS3 soon.

Cold Fear on PS2 was an obvious rip of RE4--and a bad one at that.

Not a clone by any stretch of imagination, but I noticed quite a few similarities between RE4 and Gears of War. They are still totally different games, but I was constantly "reminded" of RE4 while playing.

I wouldn't call it a rip off of Resident Evil 4. It was released pretty closely to Resident Evil 4 and just happened to be in a similar style. If anything, it was more of a Deep Fear knock off...which itself was Resident Evil knock off... which itself was an Alone the Dark knock off...of which the Cold Fear team worked on the fourth part of ("A New Nightmare"). You could go so far as to say that Resident Evil 4 was a knock off of the US version of Blue Stinger, at that point (whereas the japanese version was a knock off of Resident Evil).
If you enjoy games in the vein of Resident Evil 4, you may be interested in Headhunter and Headhunter Redemption. The first game plays like a mix between Code Veronica and Mafia while the second game plays closer to a mix of Resident Evil 4 and Metroid Prime. Both are quite fun, very inexpensive, and received completely mixed reviews with some high marks, some average marks, and some extremely low marks.

lol what!? You found a gamecube in the trash? Play Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes... or Eternal Darkness. In terms of style even though its a different game the Splinter Cell games have the 3rd person/close up when shooting.

Wait, wasn't Resident Evil 4 a clone of Extermination? Because it certainly wasn't a sequel to Resident Evil 3 or Code: Veronica. RE4 had weapon upgrading by level instead of part, tons of ammo everywhere, an in-game economy, the damn CODEC, no zombies, no Umbrella... And the main plot centers around Leon Kennedy rescuing the President's daughter?
fishsandwich, dude, I'll won't assume you've played a previous RE game. It really doesn't matter. Eventually, one day in a few years... Every game release will be a 3rd person action platformer with over-the-top/supercool cut scenes and RPG elements. They'll all have a big budget for soundtrack, voice acting and such. Gone will be the niche games, that tried to stand out as original and very stylized.
Instead of asking for a clone, why not march in to your local Gamestop and buy whatever game is the newest and most popular? I guarantee you it will be only mildly challenging, fun and well-rated in the media. Also! It will be a clone of your Resident Evil 4.

Was that supposed to be helpful? I can't tell. I played the original RE years ago and liked it but the sequels got old and I never finished any of the others.
Marching into Gamestop and buying whatever is the newest and most popular game is going to get me a brand-new copy of "Happy Feet". No thanks.
I know there are dozens of awesome Gamecube games and I'm sure I'll get to many of them.
I am more curious how many newer games ripped off Resident Evil 4... which I realize was itself a rip-off of many other games.

It's actually too soon after RE4 for there to be clones.
It only came out 2 years ago. If I started cloning it as soon as it came out, I wouldn't necessarily be done by now (unless I was a crummy fast-tracking developer like EA and RE4 made TONS of money, which it didn't really)

I haven't played RE4 but the Onimusha series for the PS2 is basically Resident Evil with swords instead of guns.

But it's not like Resident Evil 4 with swords instead of guns.
RE4 is completely unlike the old REs. It is unlike Onimusha.

I don't know why, but that sounds very zen to me.

Yeah, me too.
Anyway, I can't think of any GCN games that follow suit to RE4. The other RE ports are probably as close as you'll get.

I live in the middle of the city so I walk a lot to restaurants and bars and the park and stuff. There is this shitty apartment building near me that is situated between some nice condos and even nicer houses. It has a very small rental "house" (shack) on the property that sits very near the sidewalk and is always inhabited by a parade of people with a lot of trash and bad taste.
Anyway, I walked by it years ago and saw a box for a Sega Saturn in the trash. It was empty but I've been curious about their trash ever since (even though the occupants have changed numerous times.) I don't go digging but I do pay closer attention than normal PLUS there's usually a untidy pile of crap left there every few months, I suppose when someone moves out.
ANYWAY, I walked by last weekend and saw an old suitcase sitting on top. There was no food or dead animals on it so I opened it and there they were... an Indigo Gamecube AND an original PS2. The Gamecube had a controller and TV connections and the first Starfox in the console but no power cord. The PS2 had the TV connectors and a few shite games but nothing else. I found a smaller box and put them both in the box and took them home. Then I went out and bought the missing components.
The PS2 is broken. It lights up but that's it.
The Gamecube works perfectly. Like I said... it's the first console I've owned since the Dreamcast. I have purposely avoided all current systems as I am an obsessive-compulsive person and I knew that if I bought one game I'd end up buying hundreds and spending thousands of dollars in the process. Happens every time. I gave it to my best friend (where I spend most of my nights anyway) so now it's officially HIS Gamecube and I won't go batcrazy buying games. I have always wanted to play Resident Evil 4 so I rented it. His next purchase will be F-Zero and then we will go from there
And there you have it.

Miami Vice for the PSP is supposed to use a similar engine to RE4. also, Onimusha is not RE with swords. it has only very superficial elements it shares with RE, like a few people fighting a much larger cannon-fodder enemy that is often undead. its more like an action rpg or a horror-themed beat 'em up with rpg elements.

Without Warning has a similar looking engine, but apparently it sucks. :) It's only for PS2 and Xbox though, I don't know if that makes a difference to you. As for Cube games I'm not sure what else is out there that can be compared to RE4.

I would have to recommend Geist.
Not only did the graphics remind me of RE4, but the maps & puzzles also. Both have scary moments & tough boss battles. The gameplay is quite original and I liked it as much as RE4. Since RE4 came out on PS2 also, I would have to say Geist is my favorite GC exclusive! Very underrated!!

And very cheap, too. Gamestop has new ones for $10. I may check it out.

If you like horror games, do get Eternal Darkness. It's simply excellent.
I also suggest you check out the thread below for more GCN game suggestions (even if they're nothing like RE4).
