Anyone know anything about SNES prototypes? I'm trying to buy one from someone but I can't figure out a good price to give him. Its a prototype for DragonBall Z for the SNES which was never released. The game does work, but is really buggy and feels like a very early version of what the final version would be. Anyone have an estimate on how much something like this would be worth?

50/50 this could be pirate, saw some auctions for unreleased snes dbz games but they were pirate, don't pay more than $50 if its pirate and you want it really.

Edit, All he's been told is Its a prototype for DragonBall Z for the SNES which was never released how did dreamTR know this game is the same game as a title released in Japan for the super Famicom?

Remember, there were also DBZ games released in French. Post some screenshots, especially of the title screen with the company names.

Ever see the movie Xmen? Remember how Prof. X uses the giant machine to locate all of the mutants on earth? DreamTR had one of those built, only instead of tracking mutants it finds protos.

So I guess it is a port of the Japanese one; then why would it be on an American cart?

Because its a pirate cart. Proto's don't normally have full logos made up for them like this cart has (even though 2/3rds of it has been ripped apart). If Evan or someone with some skillz with SNES ID numbers knows what game SNES-TN-USA goes to they could confirm without a doubt that its a pirate cart. On top of that there should be some kind of ESRB logo on there, which there isn't and that in my mind further leads to the thought 'pirate' in my mind.

From http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?t=77779

I've noticed that bootlegers really don't pay attention to the part number. They use SNS-TN-USA most times which is for Terminator.

Arr matey, that cart looks awful piratey to me...

Label's a fake, and the cart looks awful shiny.

Edit: hehe, beaten to the punch... that's what i get for taking 10 mins to respond to a post...

Yep, 100% pirate. Most "prototypes" don't have that shitty stretched label. I have a bootleg of DBZ, as do many others.

Hey thanks for all the help! This forum knows a lot more about classic games than any other forum I've seen!

Definitely a pirate, as the others have said. Though this is the first time I have seen this particular pirate. Here are some others I have seen:

The stretched red bar underneath the Super NIntendo Entertainment System logo is a big giveaway. Also, the lack of a purple triangle under the "Liscensed by Nintendo" thing is another giveaway.
