Does anyone here use the site www.gametz.com to trade their games? What are your experiences with the site?

I use it mostly to keep track of my trade list. I make one trade a year on the site if that. Overall I don't think it is worth your time because most of the offers you get are bs. Someone will see a really common game on your want list and then see that you have Guardian Heroes or something from their want list and then wonder why you don't want to trade. Don't get me wrong I have made a few good trades but in the 4+ years I have used the site I think I only have like 12 trades. In my opinion you are much better off trying to find someone to trade with from boards like this one. My 2 cents.

Default, that's a bit confuzzling.

Have you made 40 trades or just 2 or 3?

I've been using GTZ for 6+ years (user name - norkusa) and have almost 200 trades under my belt. I've gotten some great deal too (Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 - PS2 for my Twin Snakes, Project Justice for my Phantom Dust, Rez for my Collin McRae 3).

Yeah, I get a lot of stupid low-ball offers too. One guy recently offered me 2 common NES games for my complete Bubble Bath Babes . But all you gotta do is just hit the "decline offer" button and it's over with. I never thought about leaving the site because of it though...it's just a little annoyance you have to put up with in order to get a cool service and some great deals.

I've never been ripped off on GTZ before either. Just make sure you're trading with someone reputable when starting out to build up feedback. Then when you have enough, you can ask others to send first because you've got more trades than them. And the forums are a good way for finding quick trades instead of having to make offers thru GTZ offer system. Just post what you have and what you're looking for and the offers will start flying in.

I traded a few things with a DP user through GameTZ. It's pretty decent, but nobody really wants my stuff, so. :p

I swear, there's been a handful of GameTZ threads over the years here at DP...

Ironically, I just received my 6 year plaque. It's a cool place, but I rarely use it these days. During those 6 years though, I had over 60 trades, a lot of good stuff I wouldn't score elsewhere, not even off teh 'bay

Wise for them to drop the membership, but IMHO the site will never be as good as it was in 2001. Too much "OMG LOOK AT MY COLLECTION NFT!" nonsense these days.

I was planning to make a GameTZ Memories piece on my site, esp. after the 6 year plaque, but I didn't get the time. Maybe next week...

I've been using GTZ for 5 months and have made 16 trades so far. I think it's great. I post a topic with a bunch of my stuff I'm selling and after like 5-10 minutes I sometimes get 5 posts with people wanting stuff, plus some offers in the offer system.

I still prefer the DP way of trading. GTZ feels too "professional".

I have had good experiences with it, but its not as good as DP.

I too have used GameTZ every now and then for a number of years. There have been a few minor annoyances and some good trades; on the whole my experience has been very positive. I've only been burned once, though actually I was quite daft to embark on that particular transaction.

Before Ebay came along as a price guide for everything I scored some awesome trades on there. There is not a whole lot of Retro Traders on there, don't get me wrong there is a lot of older games but people won't trade it seems like (collectors). Or they might have something listed but really have no intention of trading. Regardless, it's a quality site and you can meet some cool people.

Was a member in good standing until they went the bullshit membership route. Never been back since.

EDIT: I just went to their site, and entered in my old info, apparently I am still a member!

I have found the site to be completely useless. Most people seem to either want to just show off items or cast out a ton of lopsided trade offers in hopes of catching a sucker.

My favorite so far is someone tried to pawn off a bunch of crappy jaguar and saturn games on me for a whole group of my complete snes games including dracula x, chrono trigger and ogre battle among others. I didnt even have any of the jag games on my want list.

Another guy sent offers on two different occasions trying to unload a copy of Fear Effect (ps1) for games of mine not even close in trade value.

I may try the site again and just list games to sell, although I have my doubts about that also.

I've been a member at Gametz for over seven years. Like GrandAmChandler I left went the site went pay, but returned to my account when they dropped the required subscriber crap. In all that time I've only conducted 23 trades. But I feel like I've gotten good deals over the years, paitence is a virtue and it's not like I'm losing anything by keeping my lists updated. I don't see why anyone with available tradebait wouldn't keep an account open. You don't even have to check the site as offers are sent to you by email notification.

Sure you get a ton of shit offers, but it's not as if you were actually gullible enough to fall for them was it?

You'll always get that. Just do what cicnstu said and post your wanted & wants in the forums. You'll get many more sincere offers doing it that way.

I used to like the site till I got ripped off by a bronze star trader. I have only made 5 trades and one of them ripped me off. Seems like a lot of people just ignore offers and let them expire instead of declining and I always make fair or better offers.

I tried many of these over the years. Non of them have bore any fruit for me. DP B&S is just, better and easier.

I only got offered crap for good stuff, lowballed or offered a game on my want list for double amazon/ebay rates. It was entertaining for awhile at least. Eventually, seeing offers in my inbox was like seeing a bunch of email joke forwards. Sure, they illicit a chuckle but, they are more annoying than they are worth.

EDIT: What the hell, I'll try it again. I got a big box of stuff just sitting here... Maybe I can convert it into something I'll actually use. I'm not going to hold my breath though.

I've been a member of GameTZ since 2001. Back in 2001-2002 it was really great. When they became a pay-only site I was already a paying subscriber, so I stuck with them, but the site really took a hit in terms of membership, and consequently, available goods. They went back to the old way quite a while back, but they never really recovered. It's still a good place for current and last-gen stuff, but anything older than Dreamcast is really hit or miss. Goozex may be better, although it isn't free, and Playstation is the only pre-Dreamcast system supported at all.

I've been using gametz for over 3 years now; it has become my main trading site ever since tradegamesnow became a ghost town. I've made 135 trades and only have been ripped off once or twice when I was a new user.

I also use goozex to trade off stuff that nobody wants. I've used cheapassgamer a few times but it's not as convenient compared to others.

I joined a month or so ago, and so far I don't like it. My fair offers get declined and I get horrible offers. But, I can live with stuff like that, but what I really hate, is when you ask for a complete game or even just the box/manual and continuously get offers for that game loose. Is it really that hard to read the description?
I've quit adding stuff and making offers, but I'll keep my account open just in the off chance I get a decent offer.

I have made around 20 or so trades on there. I like goozex better though but like someone else said no older stuff beyond PS on there. I have been burned once on gametz and I do get a lot of BS offers. Alot of offers I send out never get replied to as well even if they are very fair offers. Still if you can wade through the BS you can make a decent trade every now and then.

I just post on the message boards, then someone replys and we use the Offer system. I've encountered extremely few BS offers this way.

It has begun!!! Well, that didn't take long. Last night I received a very tempting offer of Street Fighter Alpha Anthology for PS2 for my copy of Earthbound. I am torn... Should I accept or laugh my ass off?! LOL
