I got two empty boxes that I found for systems which I didn't have a box for, n64 and gamecube. I'm wanting some advice on how to clean them so I can bring them into the house. The n64 box has been sitting in the garage since I found it in someone's trash and the gamecube box is sitting in my trunk. I'm looking to do some disinfecting and possible odor removal. I was thinking about using some of my mom's deodorizer stuff or some baking soda to remove odor. I'm not exactly sure what to wipe them down with. I typically wipe down my garage sale finds with 409 cleaner and a little bit of goo gone for sticky stuff.

409 is the way to go. that stuff is amazing. it took 20 years worth of smoke/tar residue off of a nintendo i fixed for someone.

For systems and controllers that aren't all THAT ugly I use Lysol Sanitizing WipesŪ. Said to kill 99,9% of germs in 60 seconds they clean amazingly well, and hold up great to rather industrious scrubbing.
They can be fitted around the edge of a small flathead screwdriver (or metal nailfile, or you get the idea) to get into those annoying "crevices", like those between two halves of a console or controller, if you don't feel like taking them apart and being more thorough, that is. If you're rather determined you can also get into the recessed areas of various buttons.
*Or, use a TOOTHPICK if you're not comfortable using something metal.
I've also used 409 for this, as well as other cleaning projects. Pretty much found that if it's sticky when done, it's NOT clean. Either that, or it's changed the chemical makeup of whatever I've been cleaning.. usually a painted surface.

Well I would use a damp napkin or tissue that is hot. Not too much water at all. Then again there is so many cleaners to choose from. I would aviod anything sticky or slimy or smells strong.
