The day this was announced, there were people on Gamefaqs (I know, I know) declaring that they were giving up gaming entirely because of DMC4 moving to two systems. This wasn't a person or two...it was posts with 200+ people crying.

This is pathetic "fanboyizm" at its worst. Completely embarrassing and illogical. If DMC4 was going from one system to another...I might understand. But it's not. It's still on the PS3!

I wouldn't doubt if a few DP'ers signed the petition. Especially the vocal minority who cry about this supposed "PS3 hate" at DP. I'll never understand Fanboys.

I *think* the Willy Wonka Widescreen petiton worked. There was a talk by the studio to do an SE of the movie but only make it fullscreen as it was seen as a "kids" movie. Word got around to DVD sites and the # of names took off on this online petition and suddenly there was an announcement that there would be a widescreen edition of the movie.

I have no real evidence to support it didn't help, but then I don't have any to support it did either. I just know that somehow, somewhere someone deemed a Widecreen release as feasible saved another movie from fullscreen mediocrity.

Actually i think the whole thing is a big joke. If you google the guy who created it you find he has an account on 1up.com (http://www.1up.com/do/my1Up?publicUserId=5848164). If you follow that to his home page (http://www.triple-kill.tk/) you'll find something very interesting.

The PS3 has been out for like 4 months now so its way too early to say that "all" of the 3rd party game will go multi platform. Games will be released for years, this is just the surface/begining. You will see many games that only comes to the PS3 and many that only comes to 360.

How many games have gone multiplatform btw? I can think of Assassins Creed, DMC 4 (obviously hehe :P), Ace Combat 6 and Armored Core 4 (were these 2 ever announced as PS3 exlucive?).

I'd imagine that Capcom has to make their money back on the development costs of DMC4, so going multi-platform is the best way. The PS3 has turned into a dog at retail, so they have to do something to recoup their money spent so far.

My sentiments precisely, LJ. A petition could go to a more admirable cause like a new Splatterhouse or Bionic Commando game, or perhaps a compilation of every single Gradius game to exist. And here we have a petition that actually PREVENTS the release of a game on a different console just because some whiny possessive Sony nerds want their precious DMC4 all to themselves.

This is taking the concept of being a fanboy to new level and it has gone to far. The petition is the worst thing, I seen from a fanboy and is the dumbest thing to have a petition for. Before this, ps 3 fanboys weren't happy 3rd party games aren't exclusive to their system. The days of having exclusive 3rd party games for the most part are long gone.

Back in when I was in middle school, I heard of people claiming that the snes was the better system and the sega genesis had the graphics of an atari 2600 and that was back in early 1993.

Lol, I 'd be pissed too if I bought a $6 quadrillion game system and there were no good games. Having exclusives ensures folks are more likely to buy a system, thus convincing more developers to make games for it. So, I can see their pain, but I also laugh, because you're stupid to spend that much on a game system. It was true with the Neo Geo when it came out, and it's true now. This isn't to say both systems aren't/weren't awesome (well, at least the Neo used it's full potential, wereas the PS3 *has* the potential to be awesome, but isn't having that potential realized).
