I know someone who has a Neo Geo pocket that isn't the color version. He claims that they released the color version about a month later. I've been looking all around to see how much this bad boy is worth but I can't find any info on it; many sites say that it was only released in Japan! How much would the non color version of the Neo Geo be worth?

not very much really.it was longer than a month but not by much.i dont think there is much of an interest in the original system.

Not much.. the B&W screen versions were fairly common. Simply by virtue of the fact that they AREN'T color.. makes them less desirable than a color one. I've never seen one go for more than a color one. It's not like they're "uber-rare" or anything.

Its not the systems that are super desirable, its the games that are a bitch to get. None of the B/W games made it to release in America, so that means you'll have to hunt down the UK or Japanese ones and I know that the UK games are hard hard hard to get and costly.

Its value will depend on if its complete or not and its condition, though its really not worth a 'ton' either way.

There's still a debate about whether they are actually UK/Europe games or just for Hong Kong release. What IS certain is that they do follow the European product number structure. So for now they stay in the Europe section of the guide :)

And yes, they are a complete bitch to find...

Not really rare at all.

I used to own 2 of them, but I traded for stuff. I wish I'd kept one.

Import shop 'Video Games' of Bournemouth told me there was no European release of the Neo Geo pocket B&W, nor the games.

Whether or not the English only NGP games/consoles were officially released in Europe is something that we will never have a definitive answer to.

Here's something to think about though. Neo Geo Cup '98 Plus (non color) is the only NGP or NGPC game to not get released in Japan. Considering the popularity of Soccer in Europe, it would make sense to me that it was made for that market as opposed to Hong Kong.

I've always thought of the English B&W releases as simply "Overseas." Lke there's the Japanese version and then the overseas version. That's probably how SNK thought of them at least. They were definitely available in Hong Kong and Taiwan and they were definitely available in the U.S. directly from SNK-USA and a couple people have told me they were available in parts of Europe direct from the local SNK branch, too, so they're not really European, UK, Asian *OR* North American. They're all of those.
