Got a few things today...

Dr. Mario (NES): Boxed with manual - $12 AUS
Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt (NES): Loose cartridge - $6 AUS
NES Zapper Gun - $9 AUS
N64 Clear Purple controller (perfect condition - including the joystick!) - $35 AUS

I couldn't believe that this N64 controller's joystick was in perfect condtion. Usually they at least have abit of wear and freeplay - but this one's like it's never been used!

Note: I think the Clear Purple controller was also known as the Atomic Purple controller in the US.

$6 AU is around $3 USD and yeah it's way too much but that's for my area. SMB/DH is probably rarer in AU anyway so that could be the case.

I Think you paid way too much for all of that, granted you dont find much of it in aussie, i hardly picked up anything while in brisbane, but still $35 for a used controller? thats got to be a rip off... i could have bought a complete nes and games and zapper for $20 AUS.. what state are you in?

Today I got two atari paddles and a sega rf adaptor for 5$CDN
I also picked up my copy of Zelda for the gamecube today.

Is there any other types of the game other then the gold disk? Usually there are 2 types but all I can find is the gold versions around here. (not that I want another one)

I was driving down a local street & noticed a thrift store sign which I've never seen before. Well, today I stopped by & found 9 loose Atari 2600 games and holder, $.99 each. Highlights were Frankenstein's Monster and Concentration, the '86 release with the "for use with paddle controllers" typo. The only problem was the fact that the store had put their price tags right on top of the front labels-idiots!

I recieved Chavez II for the snes yesterday, which I won on ebay for $10 US. It is a pretty sweet looking game. Unfortunately, it will likely be the last game I get until summer.

I have noticed that I do pay a lot more for stuff here than you guys do.

But everything's a lot harder to come by over here in Australia

I often see 2600 games going for $9 AUS (about 4 or 5 bucks US)

Game Gear games going for about $25 AUS (about $13 US)

and stuff you consider common over there in the US, is down right rare or impossible to find here! (this gives me an idea - time for some PAL rarity listings!)

Just finding NES or Atari games is a triumph, let alone worrying about the price. You don't whinge about the price 'cause it'll be gone tomorrow!

We have a population of almost 20 million. That's less than a tenth of your 250 million! That means that everything is hard to find cause sales will always be significantly lower.

Probably the only common games and consoles are N64, PSX and PS2. If you want anything else, you gonna have to search real hard and be forced to pay top dolllar in the end.

Being a collector in Australia is damn hard, especially with games being a lot rarer and a hell of a lot more expensive...

/rant

P.S. By the way, mrhaboobi - I don't always get screwed over. My NES cost me $14 AUS with an extra controller. Plus my SNES was only $20 AUS(boxed, manual - perfect condition), so I do sometimes pick up a bargain. Also I've managed to find some loose NES carts for about two bucks AUS. But these bargains are few and far between....

I was up in a small town about 50 miles from home & checked out their local Goodwill. For $12 I got the following:

Atari 5200 2-Port , 2 WORKING Controllers, along with Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Qix, and Star Raiders
NES-Toaster Edition with 2 controllers & Jackal

The 5200's got a bad GTIA chip which I'll need to replace, $5, and the Nintendo's working. All in all, a pretty decent day!

R.C. Pro-Am (NES) - loose cart - $5.50 AUS

The Braintree GameStop got some more Genesis games for the first time in months. I picked up 12 games including Scooby Doo Mystery, Back to the Future 3 and Space Harrier 2. They said the Buy 2 get 1 free sale was over, but gave me the discount anyways because they left the sign up.

@christianscott, ClubNinja, klimatron8: There's still some stuff there if you want to check it out. I left behind a Castlevania Bloodlines because it had a bad label.
