How you play Yars' Revenge?

I read everything and the one thing I don't get is how you get the cannon that destory the thing on the right side of the screen?

I destory the whole shield, but I have no clue how to activate the cannon that destory the thing on the right.

Help people!

Either eat a single piece of the shield off or touch the cannon with your yar. You'll notice a little mark on the left side of your screen, that follows your yar up and down, that looks similar to your shield...

That's what you use to destroy the cannon. Press the fire button to shoot it when you have a good shot. But get out of it's way. It will kill you, too!!

You get bonus points for shooting the cannon while it's swirling around.

And you get even more points if it's moving towards you.

Not only are there extra points awarded for hitting it in flight but that is the only way to earn an extra life.
When you do so you'll notice a thin white vertical line in the spot where the enemy was destroyed. If you position your Yar so that the line runs through it you will discover an Easter Egg. Sadly it ends the game but it displays the game creator's initials.
