Hi, I'm sure many of you may have heard about the rumored Zelda 3 prototype for the NES. I've been following this for some time now. Long story short, this guy Okibi who runs www.ratedo.com claims to have one, then he sold it, but he dumped the ROM. He wasn't going to release it, but now he's holding a contest of sorts, and the winner or winners get the ROM.
Now this guy does seem a bit shady, but from what I gather, there's a fair chance this whole thing is legit. There's also that much of a chance that he's full of it. Either way, I want to try to get to the bottom of this, maybe you guys can help. As a reward I'll share the ROM with EVERYONE.
So this all started as his "Project Zero" for the month of March. He basically asked where the Triforce was located in OoT, then there was a link to a zipped file of the "prototype ROM" that was password protected with the answer (thegoldenland). Of course it wasn't that simple. The ROM was really a hacked copy of Zelda 1 (that didn't open in any emu), it had the titlescreen of the purpousley fake Zelda 3 Proto ROM that Acmlm made. Apparently this was another hint. Anyway, I found an additional hint in the BS Zelda forums that led me to this page: http://www.ratedo.com/projectzero//itsafake.php

where (if you don't want to follow the link) it just asks this question:

"So you knew about the rumors of the Triforce in Ocarina of Time? Maybe not, but you knew where the Triforce was kept. Did you know the triforce has a hidden meaning that is derived from an ancient clan? Tell me about this."

Note: There is also a black triforce with the number "3" in each triangle which is a hint.

So, I emailed Okibi, with the info from this page, but put into my own words:
http://forums.nintendo.com/nintendo/board/message?board.id=zelda&message.id=1550994

Here's what he replied:

Wow! That sure was a nice read. No matter how many times I read it, it's still
good. Everyone even seems to give me a different version as well!

Anyways, did you find what's "hidden" in the symbol? You need to link (no pun
intended) that to the story you gave me and apply it to the zelda series to get the next hint.

So this may lead us to another webpage he made, but who knows! I'm hoping there may be people here who can help with this madness, and if there actually is a ROM, we'll all get it! (but I won't post it on this page without special permission from a moderator, otherwise possibly Acmlm's Board II) There is also discussion about this going on there, so you may want to check that out as well if you'd like to help: http://acmlm.no-ip.org/board/thread.php?id=477&page=1

Thanks, I know that was a mouthfull, just let me know if you come up with!

IDK but if I was to bet money on it I'd say the clue has something to do with either Windwaker Twilight princess or one of the gba ones.

Yeah, I'm thinking Windwaker. On Acmlm's board 2, Gzila wrote:

"Edit: Just realized that the story of the Hojo symbol is very similar to Valoo in The Wind Waker (directly quoted from the game script):

"When a Rito reaches adulthood, he or she journeys to the top of Dragon Roost to receive a scale from the great dragon. It is this scale that enables the Rito to grow his or her wings.""

I hope you're enjoying the contest--because the prize is for something that doesn't exist. How do I know?

Do a forum search under prototypes. Believe me, someone here would have heard of it. Any other DP vet disagree with me here?

No, it's a complete freaking waste of time, just some guy trying to get people to go to his site. That whole thing is a farce, and anything that comes out of a "ROM" is just going to be hack of something.

Watch it just be some horrible hack of Barbie, with Link driving her dream car.

Yeap, hate to crush the dream but DreamTR and agbulls are correct. You are chasing something that isn't there.

I think most folks who are doing this little contest know it doesn't exist, but want to play it out to it's completion just to see what this dipshit does next.

Yes, they are humoring him and encouraging him to be a dipshit, but I think they also want to see what kind of stupid-ass stunt he pulls next.

That doesn't justify shit, but that's exactly what's going on.

It's true. If the cart existed anyway, dreamTR would have under his couch anyway!
