I picked up used GBC and GBA systems at Goodwill this week and one of the carts that came with them was the Mary-Kate and Ashley Pocket Planner. When you start it up, it comes up with the name and phone number of the girl who used to own it so that you can contact her if the game is lost. Wouldn't it be smart to erase that before getting rid of it, especially where a probable young child is involved? The rest of the data requires a PIN in order to access it, but you can call some telephone number at the company to get around it. Not that I was planning on using the Pocket Planner, mind you, it just came with the system. Am I just being a paranoid grandparent?

Yeah, but the parents probably had no idea it was even on there or just forgot. But the game itself probably should not even have the option to input that kind of data for that reason.

If you weren't a grandparent I'd suggest you calling and seeing if she's 18. You just never know.

No, acquiring a Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen game is NEVER smart.
You lose 10 points and must burn your face.

Is that the one where they sued Activision because the game sucked?

I imagine that Acclaim put that feature in the game in case the owner tried to lose it on purpose. LOL And I wouldn't call it a smart move, but that's Acclaim for you.
XYXZYZ: They actually sued Acclaim. More on that here (http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=3369) if you're interested.

Now now, there are members on the board who have had to buy Olsen Twins games to complete their collections, and I'm sure they don't appreciate being told to burn their faces.
(Not that I'm one of them. The most girly game I own is Little Mermaid II Pinball Frenzy for the GBC, which I had to get for my pinball collection. And it's actually pretty fun. Pinball sim fans, don't let the license scare you off.)

Bwa, ha, ha,That was pretty funny!
Actually I have that GBC game of the ET home planner digital companion or something like that and I was thinking the same thing. I wouldn't want my kids to ever put their personal information in it either.
....goes off to burn face.

I actually had some GBA-GBC Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen games in my collection that I aquired in a buy it all cheaper flea market deal.
I got a lot of laughs with them being on my shelves.lol...I wound up giving them all away to my two nieces..
..I wonder if opening and removing a battery then reinstalling
in such a Mary-Kate and Ashley Pocket Planner game would remove the stored data..?
Basically resetting the cart..

Seriously, call the number. She's prob legal now, which is why the game was at the goodwill. Just don't tell her where you got her number. Say a friend gave it to you.
Also, with a bit of work you can guess the pin. Get inside her head before you call!:rocker:

People do that all the time. Bought a couple of genesis games and in one of the manuals there was a registartion card filled out with all of the info (name, address, age, phone number etc). Scary to think someone wouldn't look at the game before throwing out or selling it. I guess we need more dateline specials to protect the new threat, meeting underage kids through games LOL
PS Also, the one who filled out the registration card should be around 24 or 25 now. Sorry, she's not under 18 for you dateline pervs out there LOL

The PIN is probably 0069. I know mine would be.

I've had one of these on my shelf for years. One day a kid came by to buy it and discovered that it was locked from a previous owner. I googled her phone number to discover that she's in Texas (how it got to Vancouver I do not know), but every few weeks I remember it and give her a call to see if she remembers the password. Get voicemail every time. Maybe one day I'll leave a message.
