Do you hang on to all of your new games and keep them sealed then only play used games? Or do you open games to play them rather than buying used? Why or why not?

I'm not even clear what you're asking. If you're asking if I play the games that I purchase new, then the answer is a resounding:
"Of course, why the hell else would I have purchased it?"

Well if it's a game I really want to play and I know it'll be worth something down the road, I'll buy 2 copies- one to play and one to keep sealed.
In the case of SMT: Nocturne, I bought 2 copies and a year later toys r us had a clearance for 50% off of the game, so I ended up with 8 extra copies. I sold all of them for massive profits and kept the original one I opened to play.
If I buy a new game and I am currently playing something "story" based (like oblivion) I will keep it sealed if it's a "story" game (like another rpg or platformer, action adventure, etc) or open it and play it right away if it's a pick up and play type of game (like virtua tennis, armored core or a racing game).
Right now, my example:
I had resistance and motorstorm on ps3, I beat resistance and was working through motorstorm. I got oblivion, armored core 4 and virtua tennis- i opened them all because only 1 was story based.
ok done
yes, i received most N-gage titles sealed, but i open them all, even though i got the whole N-Gage collection from a torrent d/l.

It depends. Sometimes i buy 2 copies of the game and keep one sealed for collection purpose and play the other. Sometimes i buy a game sealed and the later buy a used copy to play, or vise versa, buy a new/used game, play it and later on buy a sealed copy :)

Yes, I find that it's much easier to play them after I open them... square peg, round hole thing.

I leave every game sealed until I'm ready to play it. I still have sealed Dreamcast and PS games that I've never got around to playing.
My original thought was to have the ability to sell them on ebay if I ended up not wanting to play them at some point in the future. Sealed games getting more money than opened ones (obviously).

I never buy games to keep and make a killing on later. I buy them to play. And they won't fit in my console while they're still in the case...

I Open them, always have done and always will. If I buy a new game it's only ever to play, not to resell. It's usually impossible to predict which games you'll be able to resell for a profit- some people are bound to have tried that with Shadow of the Colossus (and failed).

One to open. That's it.

I have some sealed games that I got cheap at store clearances and such that I haven't opened yet, but I intend to open and play them.

I open new games, I open old games. Sometimes I even throw the boxes away because I know it would piss someone off :D

I've got a heap of Xbox games that I haven't opened yet, probably more than 25. That's only because my brother has my Xbox right now. Once I manage to get over to his place, we're gonna play the crap out of them. :)
Games are not a commodity. They are not a financial investment. They are an activity for entertainment. They exist to be played, not to be warehoused until you can flip them on eBay. So open them, pop them into a console, and enjoy them.

Like someone mentioned, I'll keep them sealed until I get around to playing that particular game. For example I have a sealed Final Fantasy 3 (DS) just waiting for when I have time.

I only buy new games to play them.

If I found a really old game that I could sell for profit, i'd sell it for a mint copy and keep the rest <_<
I open games when i'm ready to play them, that said I have alot of games I never made it to so i've yet to open them.
I do have a few sealed games i'm sitting on just for the hell of it (Castlevania COM, 2 Digital Devil Sagas, Soul Calibur, Skies of Arcadia), but for the most part I just open them up when i'm ready to play.

It depends on the system. For the systems I collect, if I want to play a particular game, I will buy two copies, one to keep sealed and the other to open to play. Unlike my other thrifty spending habit, I do not mind spending money when it comes to games.

I open my games to play.
However I have some games that I don't have time for and they sit sealed on the shelf until the time to play arises. Mostly PS2 RPG's right now. I got few of them still sealed. I desire to play them but time is short and schedule is tight right now so I pretty much play short, quick game like shoot them up, VF5 or some other quick kind of game that good for those 30 minute periods.

All of my games get unsealed & played the second they arrive at my house, even if it's only for a quick 5 minutes. They'll then sit on the shelf until I'm ready to play the game right through.

Scooter owns.
I buy new games to throw them into Lake Winnebago. Pollution FTW!
I kid, I kid. I buy games to play them. What's the point otherwise?!?!?! I ain't a collector.

I buy new games and open them cause I hate buying em used :D Plus I love that it irritates people to open rare games :D I'll buy brand new sealed rare games just to open them myself...stuff like Rakugaki Showtime and Kaze Kiri Ninja brand new...then crack em!
I open my games as I play them. I have some new games in my collection that are still sealed because I haven't gotten around to them yet. No other reason.

Sometimes if I know I won't be playing the game right away I'll leave it sealed until I'm ready to settle down with that particular game. Other times I'll buy old sealed games like "Beyond Oasis" or "Magic of Scherherazade" and open them just to have a copy in excellent condition.

Well, I'm not one for keeping sealed games around, but when I get a game that is sealed (or even a movie for that matter) I have to be the one to open it. I don't like buying used games because of this. It just seems to make it a better experience for me, especially if it is a game I have really been excited for and waiting for a long time to buy.

I open anything unless it's a sealed classic/retro game. I generally try to find a duplicate loose or open of it to keep the other sealed. If I'm buying a modern game then I want to play it, not collect.

Eventually.
I've got just a few games (haha, a few... I kill me) laying around the apartment that are sealed. I'll get around to opening them when I feel the need to play them.

Since the sole purpose of me buying games is to play them, I'd say, "Yes." Now, if I was selling them, it depends on how good a price they'd fetch.
