I remember playing a demo for Heart of Darkness on the PC several years ago. From what I remember it was a fairly neat platformer title that was pretty difficult (or so it seemed at the time) and had really nice CG FMV. I did a little research on the title and found out that it also came out for the PSX. I've been toying around with the idea of hunting down a copy and I was just curious if it would be worth it. Like I said, it was several years ago that I played this game, and I know all to well that sometimes our memories can be deceiving, and things aren't always as good as we once remembered. So, has anyone here played through this game, and if you have do you recommend it?

The PC version used to be for sale at http://www.cdaccess.com , but it appears to finally be sold out.
Look for the download at Home of the Underdogs soon. ;)
[EDIT: Scratch that, there will be no download at HOTU anytime soon. :( ]

Heart of Darkness was great, but I also enjoyed Apocalypse Now.
What we do when no one is looking or when there's no threat of being punished is really who we truly are.

I actually preferred Apocalypse Now over Heart of Darkness. I don't know what it is - maybe I just don't like Conrad's writing style - but I found the book Heart of Darkness boring and depressing. Mostly boring. It's a thin volume but I found it very difficult to read. I even watched the John Malkovich version of the movie Heart of Darkness and I found that even more boring than the book.
Oh, wait. Is this thread about a video game? Sorry. :embarrassed: I lost track.
Always wanted to play it back in the day but never got around to it. I was a rabid fan of Out of This World and Flashback, and remember looking at the screenshots on the back of the box and thinking it was the same style of gameplay.

Out of this World was a great game. When I played Cyberia on the PC years ago it came with a bunch of demos:
Out of this World, Lost Vikings, Mario Typing and a few others.
Heart of Darkness can be had for $5 and well worth it. I liked it so much that my friends picked up copies for themselves and approved too. It's aged just fine and is still a solid platformer so pick it up if you get the chance.

Actually, In high school, I also found Heart of Darkness to be an unbearably dull read, but when I forced myself to listen to it as an Audio Book during a dull commute I was able to relate to it more. During my unbearably slow commute in thick traffic, I felt as if I were the one traveling up the congo to take out my corrupt boss. This would explain my growing hostility towards my co-workers during that period of time as well. They were all corrupted by their independence in various ways as well.
Apocalypse Now had that whole "smell of napalm in the morning" thing going for it, as well as a groovy soundtrack.
So, they made Heart of Darkness into a videogame? I just can't picture it, but that sure sounds like an interesting license.

The particular game in question has nothing whatsoever to do with the book or movie.
