Shopping around for a Japanese ps2....

I've been looking around here and there online, and they are all very expensive. I've been trying to find one under 200, many that are under 200, have so expensive shipping that it brings it above 200. Anyone know where a good place is to buy one? Or should I try to buy or trade off of digitpress?

If all you wanna do is play imports, why not just get a model one PS2 and mod it?

B/c modded PS2's aren't an exact science. I sold my white one back in December for like $90 I think. Just check around some forums... they pop up from time to time. THe problem is you can't just get one from Japan affordably. Shipping on them is probably $50, and they still run a good 8,000 yen or so used.

Play asia has them around the cheapest if they are NEW, used ebay I guess...if you already own a ps2 just get swap magic, if you have to buy a new ps2 and swap magic you really are better off just plunking down the extra coin and importing one hassel free.

Shipping is around 40-45 usd on them, least thats what I paid when I ordered mine back in october through ups and pa.

I had an extra one at one time... I ended up getting it in a trade involving quite a bit going both ways. As it turns out, I decided I'd put a $90 price tag on it (it was a black -15000 model, if I remember correctly) and see what happened. I ended up selling it for that price about 3 weeks later. If I can get you one cheap, though, I'll message you.

You might want to look at Play Asia anyway. A basic black slimline + shipping might come in at just under $200.

Though if you're going for an import, put a little more aside and get some strange color. That's part of the fun. I just picked up the pink one and it's one of the most unique pieces I own, by far.

I say go for the white system from Play-Asia, especially if you have a black slim US PS2. I refer to mine as my "twins."

Play Asia is rock solid. I recommend them to anyone interested in importing. They are not very good for older games, but for new current stuff they are very good. 34 dollars from Asia is very good shipping for a system.

PA to the mainland is fast I hear. When I lived in Hawaii, it took like 3 weeks for anything. Sucked... I hated ordering from them.

I lucked out guys. I've been shopping around for a JPN PS2 and had settled on the Ceramic White Slimline. Turns out, a co-worker of mine had one of the smoke gray models (original model) sitting in storage. He had just gotten out of the Navy and had picked it up while he was in Japan.

Apparently he didn't have any JPN games to play on that PS2...so we swapped. I gave him my PS2 for his JPN model. I've been playing the crap out of PS2 Macross game and I'm itching to import more.

I just don't know where to start first. I'm thinking Neo Geo Battle Colliseum.

Battle Coliseum is a good fighter, but I prefer Melty Blood Act Cadenza over it.
There is also the Fist of the North Star fighter. Another good one is the Gunstar Heroes Treasure Box. If you can find it the Vampire DarkStalkers Collection is a very good pick up also.

I'll soon be joining the PS2 import club. :cool: I just placed my order at PA for a ceramic white model. :) So now I'll just nervously wait for It's arrival and do some more research on cool games to get. :D
