Could someone direct me to what is wrong with the NES we just got?
We screwed the cable onto the back of the VCR, and the power light blinks.
No visual from a game when in it...
Is there a way to fix this that a mom could do?
Thanks!!

You probably need a new pin connector that you can purchase fairly cheap on e-bay. Usually they go for around $5 to $7. It`s a pretty simple fix. If you decide to buy one and you need help installing it, send me a meesage and I`ll walk you through it. Good luck!

A new 72pin is definitely the way to go.
You might want to try cleaning the contacts of the game you are trying to play with a some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip.

A gray/white pen eraser helps on the games too.

OSG doesn't use those third party pin connectors anymore, as they have an atrocious fail rate, from all suppliers.
We also get a significant number of NES submissions that come with the story, "I installed a third party connector and it still doesn't work..."
However, they do work for many people. When you do as many NES's as we do (25+ per month), 25% fail rates, and warranty returns are a serious concern. Around this forum you can find information about rehabbing the original connector that is good, but not all connectors can be rehabbed either.
We install genuine Nintendo replacement connectors.
This is an EXTREMELY common problem, and some searching will yield you tons of ideas and advice, some of it bad, some of it good. It took us more than 200 units and a couple years of testing and warranty tracking to come up with OSG's method.

I had a third party connector and it didn't work. So I called Nintendo who sent me a new one (this was a few years ago mind you). Never been happier. :) Now enlies the problem where to get a new first party pin connector when this one dies...

I have a nes which is needing a new connector. Can you still get connectors from Nintendo or did they stop giving those out?
