:D Got a great 3D0 FZ10 but looks like the odds of getting an official gun slim.
Was wondering how many GUN titles available for CDi compared to 3Do?
Do they look / play as good as on 3do?

I really want to play those live action gun games, I have every major system, even got the 3do mouse but of course it's not the same. Sure there are plenty of gun titles on other systems but I want to experience shooting live actors!!!!! I'll bet it's fun. No I am not physcho but in todays overly sensitive Jack Thompson society we aren't likely to have live action shooting games again anytime soon..........................

:D :rockets:

there is more for the 3DO than the CD-i

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_light_gun_games

these on the list i either havent heard of or they only exsist in prototype form
Fast Draw Show Down - never heard of
Shoot Out at Old Tucson II - M2 system
Policenauts - i didnt know this was a gun game?

Gunslinger's Collection - this is 3 games in one collection Crime Patrol, and Mad Dog 1 & 2

i paid $100 and $75 for my boxed 3DO game guns (a one player gun and a 2 player gun) off of ebay and i got my boxed CD-i gun with mad dog game from gooddealgames for $25 (which they no longer seem to have)

its cheaper and easier to get the Cd-i gun tho
as for looks and play im not sure i havent played my gun games in ages, i think the CD-i might have the advantage because they need the Digital Video Cart to work on the CD-i

CD-i was able to produce FMV thanks to the MPEG1 cartridge, and no version (well ok, the arcades) can top the CD-i version IMO. The only downside is the little skip in video sequences when you're about to shoot: It takes away the surprise sometimes.

Have you played Thunder in Paradise? This even tops the ALg games, with the same kind of graphics.

I owned a CD-I but made the decision to sell it a few years back. One that I still regret but the drive was starting to go and this is before they once again became readily available on eBay.

That being said, I always felt the 3DO appealed more to gamers and developers because it just felt more like a console. The CDI felt more like a media player.

The 3DO in my opinion was like a Sony Playstation 3/4 of the way deveoped in terms of where it fell in capability and its library of above average titles. It was a truly great system and if I had to do it over again I would have chosen the 3DO.

If you want a hard shooting game for the CD-i, play Escape from CyberCity. I try so hard to like that game, only to be frustrated within a minute of turning it on.

Thanks for the replies! Yeah I figured 3d0 had more gun titles but again I don't know if I will ever obtain a gun for it. I am pleased about the Cdi info though so I will at some point seek out a Cdi system!

Any suggestions as far as best model Cdi, I assume I will need the FMV cart so maybe a model that includes it built in (is their one?) otherwise I assume (hope) all models are interchangable as far as performance, accessories etc?

I'm going to have to rent a 3DO gun from somebody, lol. Too damned expensive to buy outright.

my first Cdi i found in the garbage, and the only problem it has is the drive door wont open on its own anymore, it was the Philips CD-i 220 - DV cart seperate

but my favorite Cd-i so far is The LG Electronics GDI 700 - DV bulit in. i own 4 systems total including 1 portable (GoldStar GDI 750/GDI 1000 - Philips CD-i 220 - LG GDI 700 - and The CDI 350 portable)

but i would say if your going to buy one get one with the flip top instead of the sliding doors, because the doors on almost of them will die, plus they cost alot more to ship because of the weight

and one of the last models produced was the Digital Video Systems, Inc. or DVS they were still being made as of late 2000

there are many that come with the DV built in, if you look here http://www.icdia.co.uk/ you can find out all the info you could ever think of for the CD-i systems
here is the page for the systems http://www.icdia.co.uk/players/index.html

I have a 3DO FZ-10 and an ALG lightgun for it. I also have a CD-i model 490 w/built-in VCD and an "AirMouse" lightgun for it. I prefer my shooters on the 3DO. You can play Cyber City with a gun?! I've got that d*mn game!.. I never knew that.. probably because I have no manual. So.. it's kind of like playing Snatcher on the SCD?
