Help on hooking a PS3 up to HDTV

I went out today and bought a new Plasma tv, and for some reason, can't get my PS3 system to work with the HDMI cable. Are you suppost to hook any other wires up to it, or just the HDMI?

I have been playing it through the composite cables(yellow, white and red).

I know this sounds like a dumb question, but I have worked on it for nearly 2 hours. Thanks for any help,

From what I recall, you need to set the PS3 to output video on the HDMI connection - it won't use it until you tell it to.

Check the settings in the console.

with the ps3 off and the hdmi connected hold down the power button 5sec until you hear a couple of beeps.

Thanks for both reply's. Holding the power button down did the job! My wife and I can't belive the difference in the picture quality. The wife said that she would never be able to tell the difference, but now she just can't belive it.
