when you recieved this game did it come with a plastic seal at the top (tape just holding the lid shut)? is it brand new if it has that?

If you're referring to the cardboard box, the answer is yes. There was a circular plastic sticker holding the lid on the box.

that's what i thought. someone sold one as new on ebay saying that they never came with a plastic seal. my guess is that the game case inside was sealed with plastic wrap?
here is the auction:

That isn't their average price now is it? Cause if thats the case, my copy is probably going to be tossed up there. 500 bucks is insanity!

$500+ is madness. I guess people really want to organize their pokemon before Pearl and Diamond come out later this month.
Truth be told, Pokemon Box is a handy system for storing, transferring, and trading your pokemon...but c'mon. Isn't it cheaper to buy a Japanese Gamecube and the Japanese version of Pokemon Box (it's only $10 at Play Asia (http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-4e-49-en-15-pokemon%2Bbox-70-2d9.html))? I wonder if the Japanese version works on a US Wii? Why didn't I buy more than one of these back in the day? I could've retired on the 2000% return.
Edit: You can use the Japanese Pokemon Box + Freeloader on a US Gamecube. Problem solved and $500 saved for the people who are contemplating buying it.

I don't think anyone knows if the Japanese Pokemon Box works with the US Pokemon GBA games... that's the issue rather than compatibility with the US GC or Wii console.

People buy it for collecting reasons. $510 was only the price due to the hype because of the new pokemon games. I dont think many people still buy it to play. Generally, these top out at $400 new (and thats REALLY high) and $300 is probably the average price tag for a new copy.

I still want it to actually use it. Never had the cash free, and when I did they were sold out. Pisses me off.
And no I don't think the japanese version will work with american carts but i'm not 100% positive either. You're probably better off pirating it honestly.

I dunno it's tempting to sell my copy as well, but damn I really like it, and I use it so much for transfering. No better way to transfer or display pokemon for sure.
Great little storage utility.

HOLY $&*#@!^$%&^!@$#!%^@#$!
I remember a little while back when these were selling for $20.
If you want it that bad, then right on dude. I am just comparing this with how much I just paid for a 360. And for 400, you could get a 360.
Wow, maybe I should have picked up some copies to sell.
And if you want to pay that much, then right on dude.

Bizarro. I've never seen this before--and I managed an EB for three years (while the GCN was out). Guess it flew by me. Or, was it an exclusive to a certain store?

It was an online and nintendo store exclusive. It was never sold via any retailers except via nintendo.
