I have 2 N64 controllers and they both have the same problem with loose control sticks. Is fixing them possible? If so, can someone inform me about how to do so? Thanx.

That would depend on how the stick's worn. if it's just the stick (ie loose in all direction) a little tape might help tighten it up. If it's loose only in one direction (east-west or north-south) then it could be the arm or loose/worn spring.

I have an Extreme Green controller that is very loose and I'd love to keep. Short of cannibalizing a new controller it's not easy to fix.

The analog joystick is self contained within a box with a plug. If you call Nintendo and beg and plead, they will send you a replacement. Remember, don't act like they're supposed to send you one, or it ain't gonna happen. also, you're only likely to get one or two this way, and they don't sell them. but you didn't hear that from me.

I can't contribute anything to this thread, but I can suggest this gets copied/moved to the Restoration forum.

I've tried everything to repair those sticks. The only thing that works is replacing the stick unit with a good one. Now finding one that isn't ground to powder, that's the tough part. I've had my best luck getting game stores to give me their busteds, and one in ten of the busted N64 controllers will have a wrecked cord, leaving the stick in unused condition.

The next step is burglarizing the local authorized Nintendo service center. It burns me that they won't sell me parts at any price. Feels like extortion, but hey, I can always operate like a auto wrecker. Get broken and strip.

Thanx for all your help guys. I just bought myself an N64 and I have a jungle green controller and a teal-ish color one which I wouldn't dare to tinker with unless it was hassle free. I'll go break into my local nintendo shop ASAP! (just kidding...)
