Ok, I have been trying to find a Super Sprint and an APB arcade machine for sale in my area for a few years now. I have had no luck so far. Well, to get my fix of the games until I find the machines, I have been trying to play the games on MAME. Well, I bought a Logitec steering wheel + pedal combo and am trying to get the controls configured for these two games through the MAME joystick setup. Well, I am almost certain that I have set them up the correct way, but my car control is jerky or the car spins in circles (depending on the control changes I make). Anybody know how the steering controls are read through these games? Are they a simple spinner setup (like Arkinoid), or are they considered a separate control.

The steering wheel setup is just like the spinner in Arkanoid and Breakout. The problem with playing certain racing games is that those games required a 360 degree wheel, when most USB PC wheels will not go that far.

My recommendation is do either a mouse hack and attach a wheel to it, use the OptiPac from Ultimarc with a wheel from a Pole Position or 4 X 4 Off Road game.

In the mean time you should be able to play Outrun and other games that did not require a 360 degree wheel.

No PC steering wheels freely rotate like that.

Maybe get a Stelladapter and use the 2600 driving controllers if they're supported?

I've tried with a PC wheel and haven't found it to be worth it. A spinner or even a trackball works better for me.
