This was originally posted on the CheapAssGamer forums (hence the term CAG), and it was recommended to me to post on these boards. Hopefully, some of you have heard of Cryptic Allusion and will read/respond to this post. Thanks ahead of time! ^_^

Fellow CAGs,

My name is Roddy, and I'm an independent game developer. The group I co-own/run is called Cryptic Allusion, and we're in the middle of developing a game that will be sold on Dreamcast. Yes, that's right: the Sega Dreamcast. It's a dead system, right? Well, it's relatively easy for us to develop on it since Dan Potter built the toolkit from scratch and he's the other half of the business! Not to mention that if you've been following it at all, you'll know it's got a great homebrew scene behind it.

The game project is titled "Donk", and it's a total rework of a game that was popular in the UK for the AmigaCD32 system back in 1994. We have been working with the original devvers, and they've given us the go to get this game published for the Dreamcast (to be known as "DC" from here on out). The problem is that there aren't many people that know about us, and that's where you come in.

We've been "dugg", but only slightly. I know a lot of you guys/girls have accounts at Digg as Cheapy+Wombat always ask for you to go Digg the CAGCast (of which I'm a huge fan, btw!). That's all I would like to make use of: go digg our news stories. No cash involved, just free advertising for us. Plus, since i'm only asking here and on our own forums[EDIT: and now on DigitPress], I'll make sure our publisher/store has a CAGs-only [EDIT: And DigitPress readers/posters] $5 off coupon for the game when it comes out. It's not going to be expensive to begin with (estimating the price at 25 bucks...remember, that's an estimation), and we really need your few CPU cycles! I'll post the link here at the bottom. As some older (and maybe some newer) CAGs, I'm sure you've got a DC stuck in a closet somewhere. Ever think about giving it one last hurrah? It's a fun system that died an early death, IMO, but we're trying to send it out with a bang.

I know nearly all of you have no idea who I am, but I figured out of any group of gamers, you guys would help out based on principle alone (not to mention a $5 coupon!). I hope you read the above (book...sorry bout that) and help us out; I promise this is not a scam, and you don't have to spend any cash except to buy the game should you so choose [EDIT: PLEASE!!!]:

We should have some screenshots of the OLD VERSION (keep that in mind when you see them) later today on our forums. That's not to say the old one looks bad...in fact, it looks pretty damn good for a game from the early 90s, but we're redrawing all of the graphics at double the resolution so they will look much sharper on the DC. Also, all of the sound effects and voices have been reproduced or recreated (by yours truly). This is nearly a total reworking of the original.

Trust me: if we are able to get some review copies out, I'll get myself a stack and hand them out personally if it'll get the job done. I feel like I'm making a demo CD...except it's not a demo.

Thanks for the Diggs, everyone! Much appreciated.

I'll give you some cash if you use it to finish Tryptonite.

That's something we want to do (get your cash, not finish Tryptonite...no wait...other way around!).

It's on our roadmap, but not for the super near future. We've got plans to move to another system after we've supplied the Dreamcast with Donk, so we have to get through that first. As much as I'd love to get Tryptonite out the door, we just can't do it right now. Which sucks, because we had some nice models and a cool little story worked out for it. And when I say "cool little" I mean "absolutely makes no sense, but you'll like it anyway".

Just know it hasn't been thrown away, and if we get enough support for/from Donk, anything could be our next project.
