I found these a while back at garage sales and the like. I do not know if they go to consoles or are for the PC.

this is the first one

there is a wheel on this and the opposite side. The bottom has arrows pointing circular around the wheel, with a + on one side and a - on the other
On the adjacent side it has 3 smaller red wheels, similar to this big one.

the bottom. It says "Advanced Gravis Computer Tech LTD. Burnaby B.C. Canada"

I am really bad at telling what these go to >_>

the second one. I actually have two of these from two different places. They were cheap, hehe...The top says "Archer" under the brown buttons.

the switch is between "Apple" and "IBM PC" What generation is this?

the plug splits into two different plugs, right here

this is one of them. The other one is exactly the same, except wider. Instead of 5 pins on the top row and 4 on the bottom, it is 8 on the top row and 7 on the bottom. I can take a pic if needed.

Thanks in advance! I tried googling but found nothing. What systems or what era of computers do they go to?

The first one is a Gravis SuperPad. A grand ol' joystick, it was what I cut my teeth on in PC gaming. So, yes, it is a joystick for a computer.

I'm guessing the second one is also a PC joystick, although I don't quite know what PC's used standard 9-pin ports. That's probably the Apple port. Although somebody else could probably come and identify it a bit better.

Well, the first one is a joystick by Gravis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravis) that was called the "Mouse Stick" if I remember right. At least that was the name for the Mac version. It looks like the one you have hooks up to a PC and may go by a different name; it also has a different color scheme. These would have been around from the early to mid 90s. The wheel on the bottom increases or decreases the tension of the stick.

The bottom one was mad by Radio Shack. It apparently works with either the IBM PC and I am guessing the Apple II.

The bottom one was mad[e] by Radio Shack.

Yep, Archer is (was?) a Radio Shack house brand, much like Realistic.

I believe that the first one is called the Gravis Analog Joystick.

http://www.dpluss.nl/gravis-analog.htm

It was one of more popular 3-button, 2-axis PC joysticks back in the early '90s. I recall playing a fair bit of Wing Commander II, Rebel Assault, and X-Wing on that one. I think I still have one around here somewhere. As stated earlier in this thread, the big wheel at the base of the stick is to adjust the tension. There should also be three dials on the side of the stick to remap a respective button.

I can't say that I used that joystick for too long since I picked up a Gravis Analog Pro a couple months later that came bundled with Tie Fighter. It's pretty similar in design but added an extra button and axis.

I've seen the first pad a few times at my local thrift. Passed on it though - I don't like joysticks in the flight sim controller configuration. Would rather have a Neo Geo-style stick :)
