MP3 players on a PS3?

I got a quick question. Anybody try hooking up an MP3 player to the PS3 and get it to work? I've tried 2 and the PS3 didnt recognize them. I also tried an Ipod Shuffle and, while I easily transfered the songs, the Ipod wouldnt or couldnt find them/recognize them (I think because they were not in the "proper" Ipod Music folder). I was wondering if anyone here had any luck with them and, if so, were able to transfer MP3 files from the PS3 to the MP3 player...

I've wondered this also, as I have a 20GB Network Walkman that has your typical USB interface.

I doubt it would work because I don't think the PS3 uses Sony's Connect store at all (does it???).
