I am posting this for a friend, but he was wondering if Genesis controllers work with a 9 pin on a famiclone? Any help on this would be great, I know that I will get an answer for him here!

No, they won't. I've plugged them in to try them out without doing any harm to the system, though.

Even if you were to rewire a Genesis controller, you couldn't get it working on a Famiclone since the Famiclone controllers actually seem to use some sort of signal switching rather than just having one wire for each button, which I would have expected since it's simpler and cheaper. Famiclone controllers only have five wires just like original NES controllers, which may just be a coincidence, but it's possible that it means you might be able to rewire an original NES controller to work on a Famiclone. Has anyone here tried this?

I rewiring a NES controller might be hard, but it sure would be cool!

Doesn't work with the Neo Fami.
