Great news for those who can't afford the carts! "A little more than a SNES title $8!"

I may make my first Virtual Console purchase with these!

Hopefully, we'll see some sort of Wii fighter joystick...but I'm not holding my breath.

It would be cool if SNK released something similar to the Neo Stick 2 for the PS2, but a wireless one with a Wiimote dock.

I read the article on IGN this morning. The president of SNK said they plan on pulling from all 120 released Neo games. This is truly excellent news...I'm happy I never spent the $ on the system as I'm officially out of room in my entertainment center!

A step in the right direction for sure, especially on SNKP's part. This should get a great series of IP out to more people who always wanted to play the games but never could. Of course, this is all subject to SNKP's reputation for delaying EVERYTHING.

Personally, I'll hold my breath for them to release content on the 360. Since I already own my favorites on MVS it's hard for me to justify buying them again without a better controller and online play.

Of course, the first released game for the VC will be Andro Dunos.

Second will be Double Dragon.

Without a joystick I can't see how these are going to be that much fun. Most, if not all Neo games thrive on that arcade-like experience.

And besides, most of the mainstream stuff has been released elsewhere, so it's not 'OMG I CAN FINALLY PLAY ART OF FIGHTING' or anything like that.

X-arcade + gamecube adapter = Neo Geo VC happiness

I think I'm the only Neo Geo owner (with Phantom convertor, natch) who absolutely detests joysticks. Hated them in arcades, hated them on the home system.

The fact that I can now get they for about $10, play on a HD TV with minimal resolution loss (I'm expecting TG16 like results) and play with the Nintendo equivalent of a Saturn controller?

They'll have all my money.

C'mon Mutation Nation!

I wonder which games that will be released. The biggest Neo Geo games are like 80MB large. Will fill up the internal memory damn fast. Good price tho :)

Heh, use a ps2-gamecube converter and a ps2 arcade stick. I'm hoping to see some kind of Arcade stick to come out for the Wii. Not just for VC, but for other games.

I'm just afraid how much Nintendo will try and sell the games for. I won't buy any if they're over 800 points.

Given SNKP's track record, I'm highly skeptical about this until I see a title list. ONe that doesn't include NAM 1975 on it.

Problem is, there are more than 120 released NEO games, so once again, the President of SNK Playmore shows what an idiot he is.

God, if you're going to run a company with a large fan base, at least get your information correct.

There were 146 officially released Neo-Geo MVS games, 12 of which were released outside of the US.

In addition, there were 17 proto games that were not released, some of which are completed, and fully playable (ie. Ghostlop, Fun Fun Brothers)

SNK Playmore continues to disappoint...

Could he have been referring to first party SNK games(as well as the ones from companies they've absorbed, like ADK)? That's what I assumed he meant.

Also, if Andro Dunos was among the first games out, I would be a happy man. I love that fuckin game, but don't own a copy of it myself.

This will be hurting the sega genesis for what fighting games will be on the virtual game console. I don't see sega releasing time killers for the virtual game console. I am not certain if a mortal Kombat game makes it to the virtual game console for the genesis.

Taking the snk and the Mortal kombat games for the genesis, all they have is Street fighter 2: championship edition, Super Street fighter, Ballz 3d,Clay fighter, Time Killers, Double Dragon 5, Eternal Champions, Shaq-fu,Budokan: the martial Spirit,Justice League Task Force, Ka-ge-ki: steel, Slaughtersport, and TNNT: Tournament Fighters.

Yuck! After you take out the MK games for the system. The only genesis fighting game that is worthy of a virtual game console release is Eternal Champions, if the street fighter 2 games will be on the genesis vc system due to capcom putting them on the snes.

Also...I am sure it is safe to assume that any of the games be they fighting games or otherwise were available on both the Genny and the SNES, then I have little doubt that the SNES version will always be the one to get released over the Genesis versions. So MK and TMNT:fighters..etc...will likely come to the VC at some point, but it will likely be the SNES versions and not the Genesis versions.

I just want the samurai showdown games to be on VC. Especially Samurai Showdown V special. The real one, not that censored crap.

I was thinking the same thing for fighting games on both systems. The only Street fighter 2 game, that I could see on the genesis virtual game is Street fighter 2: Championship edition.

You are not alone! I am control pad man myself
Pad > stick (for me)

Andro Dunos is way underrated IMHO! Glad I got me a copy ;)

I look forward to Neo Geo on VC! Pulstar, Blazing Star...

I prefer dpads, too, for most genres like shooters, platformers, certainly racing games. It's really only fighters and scrolling beat'em ups where an arcade stick really seems to enhance the experience for me. Sometimes plain 2D action games as well.

Now an SNK-style clicky thumbstick, that is indeed altogether superior in my opinion. I can't think of a single game or genre where I wouldn't prefer a clicky thumbstick over either a dpad or an arcade stick.

I'll stick to my (CMVS 2-slot) thank you very much.

Still if they throw in a decent joystick i may give it a try. By that i mean if hori made one for the Wii.

Just, for when i wanna take my "Wii to a friend house for the some neo goodness ;)

I'll say this becuse... i don't take my cmvs any where it stays put at the house.

Mean Bean Machine is available instead of Kirby's Avalanche, and they're both just reskinned Puyo Puyo.

I have a gut instinct these won't be online, which to me = fucking shit.

These are all on mame as it is and so paying for them on the VC is like paying for mame imo, I love my neo geo online collections as I get to hold something in my hand with some newer features and stuff, I would feel like a complete chump if I were to pay for just a downloadable file.

I am pretty sure a HRAP ( yank sticks no thanks I love my sanwas ) will not work on a Cube ( or maybe that is xbox ) even with an adaptor although that may have changed with the wii, but I don't want to consider the pure horror of playing a fighter with a pad, let alone a dildo remote...that is just lame beyond fuck.

I guess it is cool for those who have never heard of emulators or for those who enjoy pad's still the only way I would consider these is if they were online AND the server were good.

So far, all the of Genesis games released on the VC are first-party. I'm assuming that Sega has no deals with any third parties to release third party Genesis titles on the VC, and it's probably easier for the third parties that released titles on both the SNES and Genesis to release the SNES versions. It'd be great if Sega and Nintendo will work to make some deals so that some of the better third-party titles that were exclusive to the Genesis will eventually make their way to VC. Here's hoping there's a chance.

Also, the Genesis didn't have a good selection of first-party fighting games. The Genesis Virtua Fighter ports were horrible. Eternal Champions wasn't bad and I have a feeling Sega will eventually bring that to VC. The Genesis had some good Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat games, but I think if Capcom releases another SF on VC, it's going to be one of the other SNES titles. Any Mortal Kombat games will likely be the SNES versions (and hopefully the first one will actually have blood this time around, though I wouldn't care if the first MK was skipped in favor of II and III).
