Incase most of you don't know by now, Valve was hacked by a guy named MaddoxX.
He has stolen and posted all credit card numbers in valves database.
Everyone - if you've ever bought anything from Valve, check your CC statements.

Does this include anything through the STEAM service? I am a member of the Steam service and have purchased a few of the lesser known games like Darwinia, etc...but none of the big name titles like Half Life...etc.
If so...then I honestly wouldn't know what to do to check on this.

It's only partially true and mostly bullshit being spread by people who haven't taken the time to actually look at what he's distributing and reading about what he's actually done.
1up actually has a nice little bit about it (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3158852)
Doug Lombardi, director of marketing at Valve, says, "There has been no security breach of Steam." However, he does confirm our expert's findings by adding, "The alleged hacker gained access to a third-party site that Valve uses to manage the commercial partners in its Cyber Café program. This Cyber Café billing system is not connected to Steam. We are working with law enforcement agencies on this matter, and encourage anyone with more information to e-mail us at Catch_A_Thief@valvesoftware.com."
So basically now people will be able to create fake Cyber Cafe certificates (or at least until it gets fixed).
Straight from Gary (http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?action=showpost&postid=326335621) (of Gary's Mod) regarding the deletion of threads about it:
I've been deleting threads about it in the FP forum, not as a cover up, but because it's on a warez site. Plus the guy obviously has a "My dad won't pay attention to me so I'm gonna steal his car" thing going on.. He has for a while.
This might be the step from Piracy to real Cybercrime that gets him sent to jail (assuming it's illegal in the Netherlands).
You have very very very very little to worry about if you've purchased anything over Steam. It's more likely that that 16 year old kid that rang your groceries up is going to make off with your credit card info.

Which is why I always use self checkout whenever possible, and swipe my CC myself through the seperate swiper.

Good. I'm glad hackers keep messing with Valve. That ridiculous Steam was one major reason why I had little tolerance for Half-Life 2.
When you waste hours upon hours INSTALLING a frickin' game to have a service that no one will EVER use or really need, you start the game that already had major problems off on the wrong foot!

Too bad Steam wasn't hacked. If you don't like Valve's content delivery platform, then don't buy their games. Vote with your dollars!

Everybody, calm down; it doesn't affect you.
It was a third party group holding certain CCs - only those of people who run game centers, no individual gamers - that got hacked. So it's not directly the fault of Valve having bad security.
That said I've always insisted on buying Steam games at a store, and this just reinforces the wisdom of it...
Also, roushi hit the money; clerks reading in your CC by hand are a far greater security risk.
