EDIT: And on top of all these, you have specialty cars (like Circuit City and Best Buy who have downloadable cars if you reserve from either store), and probably a shit-ton of downloadable cars coming after the game is released.

You may think I'm crazy, but I actually can't wait to drive this in game(being a Saturn owner in real life and all).

310 cars to be precise :) Pretty impressive list! Gran Turismo 4 had 721 cars tho, but it says "so far" on the Forza 2 list so who knows how many cars that will be avalible in the end ;)

Well GT4 does win for more cars, but really how many are worth driving?

I'm looking foward to Forza 2 a ton, the first one was great.

Poofta!

dissapointing... no Monte Carlo? no 2007 civic/accord? only 3 production BMWs? wtf. wish there were more 07 cars. this really looks almost identical to Forza 1... so basically same game, with upgraded graphics and damage mechanics? and here i was soooooo excited for the game... damnit. ill still probably buy it lol.

Well they have the SVT Focus but not my SVT Contour. Damn it I dont think I'll ever get to play my car in game.

Oh as for GT4 having 700+ cars how many were the same car but slightly different variations of each. They dont need 50 skylines, that crap is just retarded.

Wow, when you put it that way it sounds like a Madden game.

Seriously, who really needs more than 300 different cars to choose from? And how many of those 300+ will the average person play more than once?

I just tried out the demo for Forza 2 and it's pretty cool. Still, something bothers me. Isn't the spoiler on the 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo supposed to lift when you hit 120 km/h? I'm not seeing any spoiler-lifting action going on in the demo.

I just finished playing the demo, and I'm still completely stunned. This could be the worst looking non-launch title on the 360 so far. The graphics are absolutely wretched.

You can tout gameplay over graphics all you want...but this game is embarrassing. The 360 and PS3 are more than capable of having excellent gameplay and excellent graphics. Wow...just wow.

Is it just me or is the wireless racing wheel IMPOSSIBLE to use with this game? Granted, I just got the wheel a couple weeks ago and I haven't played with it much, but I could hardly keep my car on the track. After coming in last place for the 10th time in a row, I unplugged it and used the control pad. Ended up getting 3rd on my first try with it. :hmm:

Yea it's supposed to lift and no it doesn't. MGS/Turn10 forgot about active aero in Forza 1 too.

Does the wheel have sensitivity settings you can tweak? I know the Logitech does, but that one was fine on the default setting.

The control is phenomenal, by the way. The handling isn't nearly as twitchy as it was in the first game, and I was flying around the track with ease using the Logitech wheel.

I don't see why everyone is complaining about the graphics; it looks excellent to me. But then again, I'm using a nice VGA monitor to play, so it looks orders of magnitude better than on a television.

I like Forza 2 alot better than the 1st, so far. Especially with the wireless wheel.

But I'd hafta agree on the GFX - It's using the PGR3 engine which topped out at 720p. On my 1080i TV, you can make out some of the jaggies where it's upscaling the picture, and the color gradients on the cars (especially the greys and greens) look terrible. Alot of pixelating and artifacting...

Not to my knowledge. Looks like all the info i have on it indicates a fixed wing spoiler, not an adjustable one like the Lamborgini Gallardo sports.

From page 16 of the brochure (page 9 of the PDF):

The new engine lid design features an integrated rear split-wing spoiler; the upper wing element is automatically raised at approximately 75 mph (120 km/h) and lowered at around 37 mph (60 km/h).

I demand simulation!

Ok first of all that's cool. Second, does it have an option to lock the wing? A lot of cars with automatically adjustable wings can have them locked in the up or down position depending on which offers better racing preformance.

DB9 for me, if only for aesthetic purposes. Most likely the Zonda'll see the most amount of hours on the track, unless they somehow find a way to stick the Veyron in there. :)

I read in a interview where the Forza 2 developers were asked why they didnt make the game in 1080p. They replied that it took too much power (i know 10809 only describes the resolution, it doesnt mean OMG gfx, but still, takes more power). They also said that their physics engine is running in 360 fps and if it was running any slower the physics would be slow and pretty bad. In other words, they had to sacrifice effects (gfx wise) to have enough power for the physics engine. Its all about give and take they said.

Not to derail the topic, but could this be a negative thing for the upcomming 360 games that uses an very advance physics engine? Its all about calculations and PS3's CELL CPU got more power for this. Think PS3 games will eventually look better than the 360 versions because its more power left (CPU wise) for other stuff? Or didnt the Forza 2 developer do a good enough job on squeezing the 360 for juice?

I tell you what, I'm going to be an expert on Mugello by the time the game comes out. 52 seconds and change for a lap with the MC12. Whoooo. This needs to be released right now. ;_; And the control is among the best I've ever seen in any racing sim.

I played this more tonight with the wireless wheel and I'm finally starting to warm up to it. It's been a while since I used a FF wheel, so I guess I just needed to play it for a while to get use to it.

Really digging it though. At first I was kind of on the fence about buying it but I'm definitely going to pick it up on release day. It's too bad the demo doesn't have Live multiplayer though. :(

Figure I'd give this a bump since it comes out tomorrow.

And as you can see, I also changed the subject to make this the official Forza 2 thread.

Time to talk cars!

The Achievement list is weird - alot of 1 point, and odd numbered achievements....

Yes, everyone wants the only car Captain Slow has ever driven really fast, but come on, it's huge and i'm not sure how it would be handle around a track. Too bad we'll never see it thrust around the track at Dunsford Park.

Personally i think the DB9 is a nice mid level car, but for me Forza 2 is all about the R2 class. Nearly came the first time i saw the cars in there. Just ask Gamereviewgod.

Dear god this game is a far cry better than the first. Especially with the wheel.

The soundtrack is pretty bad-assed, as well.

Beats me - it looks about the same to me, though I haven't gotten around to actually running Mugello in the real thing yet. I think it looks excellent, particularly on a nice, sharp 1024x768 VGA monitor. Couldn't tell you how it looks on a television, though. :)

Did they fix those jaggie graphics that everyone was whining about in the demo?

Not really. It still is a little jaggie in 1080i. But they seem to have gotten rid of the artifacting I was getting when alot of a certian color was on the screen.

Namely green, yellow, and brown.

I'm still waiting for my Buy.com copy to come.

Is there a clan feature in 2 like in the last Forza? We should do a DP racing league if there is.

Unfortunately, no. But online play is still great.

I haven't hit one bit of lag, so far. The only problem I've had was trying to connect with Forza TV, last night.

I can barely ever connect to a fucking game. It just keeps telling me the host is gone or the match is full. I've only been able to connect to one career race.

Uh oh. Sounds like the same connection problem everyone was having with Call Of Duty 3. The only way I fixed it was with buying a new router.

Aspyr doesn't have anything to do with Forza 2, do they?

man, ive seen some crazy ass paint jobs. How the hell do people do such amazing designs? Do you really have to plot each layer, sort of pixel by pixel to make a great image? I wish you could just freehand paint on these things!

A friend of mine managed to buy a car last night with a pretty nice anime design, but the seller forgot to lock it on the car. He took the opportunity to look at how the design was made.

Apparently, the hood of the car (where the bulk of the work was done) consists of almost 400 layers. The artist had mostly used a wedge-shaped piece, stretched and adjusted in all different kinds of ways, to build up the image.

I've made a couple of designs, but I've never used more than about 8 or 9 layers on a side. I don't think I'd have the patience to put hundreds of layers on each side of the car. Plus, I'm not an artist, so there's no way I could make something that looks even remotely good. ;)

As for the game itself, I've spent a lot of time playing it since I picked it up on Sunday. I'm trying to find time to play both this and Odin Sphere, but Forza's winning for the time being. I'm thinking about picking up the Microsoft steering wheel, but I'll probably wait a few days to see if I'm still as enthusiastic about the game before I spend that much on a controller.

I haven't finished it yet, but here is my mario car. To make something really nice it take a bunch of layers and time. To do this one it took me about 2 hours and almost 400 layers.

Too about an hour, the flag was the biggest bitch making everything symetrical. And the outline on the letters of general lee just wasn't working out so I left it out. Still needs some work as my color disability keeps me from perfection.

Also needs less over steer. But atleast it gives me a reason to yell YEEEE HAWWW during a game.

I've got a question about this Nissan Fairlady Z unlock code you got with pre-orders. Is this car supposed to be available in the Career mode when you start out the game? I entered the code after I started playing the career mode but I don't see it in my garage. Is it only available in the other modes?

Yeah, I saw it on the car list for the arcade mode but it's not in my garage in Career. It's really not even that fast of a car, that's why I was thinking that maybe you could start your career with it. If that's the case, I'd just start over and do all my races with the Fairlady Z since I'm not that far in right now.

I've been playing Forza 2 non-stop for the past 3 weeks. At Level 33 now. Basically just playing Career mode right now and haven't even touched multiplayer yet.

How do the unlockables work? Will all the cars I unlock in Career be available when I'm racing on Live? I thought they would but I was messing around with Arcade mode the other day and noticed a bunch of cars can be unlocked in that mode too and I could have sworn a few I unlocked in Arcade were ones I already unlocked in Career.

And has anyone switched their home region mid-way thru their career? I'm thinking about switching from Asia to Europe but I don't want to do it if the 50% discount on production cars doesn't carry over.
