Anyone heard of or played this? It's an action game by Telenet/Micro World that was released in 1993. I've searched several places online but have found nothing on it, aside from a favorable mini-review on Genki Video Games.

I found a loose copy today at a local game store (they had another copy, which was complete but more expensive), and it looked intriguing so I decided to pick it up, despite never having heard of it. Haven't tried it out yet but I will soon.

So, anyone have anything to add about it?

I have owned it for quite some time but sold it recently.
In my opinion, its rather average, like a mix between Contra and Gunstar Heroes - but way worse.
Its still not a bad game though, just not comparable to mentioned milestones. The graphics are very monotone in my opinion, which makes it to stick with it till the end although its not very difficult.

Just don't expect anything beyond middle-of-the-road, and you should be okay with it. :)

Here's a mini review I wrote for it over on my forum (suitably edited for posting here):

Edono Kiba is an action game for the Super Famicom, developed by Micro World and Telenet. I picked it up last Friday and tried it out the following Saturday. I proceeded to blow through it on Easy mode (they give you 9 lives and 9 continues, and the game isn't all that long).

One thing about the game is that, aside from the last stage, your character is constantly moving. Running, flying, you name it. On the running stages, you're confined to three planes (as are all of the enemies), which was kind of confusing at first. You're armed with a laser sword, which you can use to slash, guard and charge/throw. Unfortunately the controls aren't as responsive as I'd like them to be, but ultimately they get the job done.

Some of the bosses are pretty impressive, like the rotating Buddha (stage 3's boss, IIRC) and the last stage has one of the most outrageous bits I've seen on the SF since Contra III - you ride an ICBM up into the stratosphere and knock down other ICBMs on your way up. In this section, you're actually controlling the movement of the missile, not the character.

On a whole, I can sum it for you like this: it plays like a combination of Ranger-X and DJ Boy. If you can picture that, hats off to you. Was it worth what I paid for it? Yes. However, I will say that if I'd paid any more than I did, I would have considered it a ripoff.

Here's a couple pics for you, including a couple from the ICBM stage:
