No word on a North American release, though. Seeing as how none of the next gen consoles have a keyboard attachment. And the one on the 360 controller that's supposed to come out probably won't cut it...

PS3 and 360 both support keyboards. No reason why it couldnt come out on those

Actually, isn't 360 going to get that update to allow the usage of USB Keyboards soon? If so, then TotD2 can be on 360 easily.

Totally awesome. I'd love to kill the Fool by typing something like "Ode to a green lump of putty I found in my armpit one summer morning." ROFL
Bonus points to whomever gets that reference. ;)

The Typing of the Dead was based on The House of the Dead 2.
I wonder which one The Typing of the Dead 2 will be based on, The House of the Dead III or The House of the Dead 4.
I hope it's the The House of the Dead 4. I didn't like the cell-shaded, cartoony look of The House of the Dead III.

Uh, what?
House of the Dead 3 was only cel shaded in its earliest incarnations and previews, they ditched the look long before the game was actually released. :)
It got a very good XBox port, if you've been avoiding it all this time I'd go out and grab it (usually in the sub-twenty dollar range anyway). Supports a gamepad if you don't want to get one of the lightguns just for this and Silent Scope Complete.
Poofta!

[cleans egg off face]
Well, that's what I get for not reading the article. That's uncharacteristic of me. Really!
I've been trying to acquire The House of the Dead III even for quote some time. Not only has it been hard to find in my area, but the only times I have ever seen it was at EB, and for more than I was willing to pay for it - ESPECIALLY since it was always a gutted copy. :grrr:
I will get it; it's inevitable.
And I am thrilled to find out that The House of the Dead III is not cell-shaded! The first pics I saw of it turned me off.
Since, as far as I know, there is no official Xbox lightgun from Microsoft, which lightguns are recommended?

The two that will be easiest to acquire are the Mad Catz Blaster and the Silent Scope Rifle. The Mad Catz one works just fine but I prefer the Silent Scope gun if you can find it. The cool thing about it is that the barrel/main body assembles in such away that you can remove the barrel and use it as a pump action shotgun. This feature was implemented specifically with House of the Dead III in mind. :D

It already can. FFXI uses it in game, and its been working on the Dashboard for a long time. Same with the PS3

It's had USB keyboard support since the begining and two updates ago they improved keyboard support, so it's already there. The new update just enables msn messeging and the use of the mini keyboard

I'd give you a prize if I had one to offer, Slip. :D
I've always loved the House of the Dead series, because... okay, let me put it this way: Is it possible to at all dislike a series that's all about blasting zombies to whatever hell it is they came from? I don't know why I've waited so long until recently to snag TotD for the DC, but I freaking love it. Real hard, though; I think I'm better at HotD2. LOL
Having played quite a bit of HotD3 in all of its big shotgunny goodness (and hoping to try out my smaller, more manageable, and neato LCD Topgun on HotD3 on the XBOX), I'm definitely looking forward to this one. Looks pretty damn tough from the demo, though.

well since I can't type for shit, I never the original, and I probably won't play this one either.
Though I am looking foward to Touch the Dead on the DS next month. What's with all the Dead games all of a sudden anyway?
It is a cool concept though, and if I could type without looking at the keyboard I'd probably seek out the DC release.

It's a pretty good learning tool actually. You get real good when a typo means evisceration. :D

Frankly I'm surprised it took them this long to get around to it. The PC port of HOTDIII has been out in Europe for some time, at least.
You may also recall that the original Typing of the Dead received PC "updates" in the form of TOTD 2003 and TOTD 2004.
I really hope there's a NA release.

Hmm. What's next? 40 years of darkness, Rivers and seas boiling, Human sacrifices, Dogs and cats living together, Mass hysteria? :)

Ooh, I missed that.
Seems to be lacking the usual HOTD charm, though, judging from the preview vids. (The music from the second stage of TOTD/HOTD2 is singularly awesome.)
