Does anyone else here feel iffy sometimes bidding on an auction which describes a video game (complete or otherwise), makes it sound like its in good to near mint condition, only to have a stock photo instead of an actual photo of the product?
I've found one of those for a complete Paper Mario n64 today. Description makes it sound great (little wear on the box), but uses a stock photo. I even asked the guy if he had a photo.
He tells me no, read the description instead. Anyone else dislike that?

It doesn't bother me that much, though I much, MUCH prefer original photos. What annoys me more is when they take photos off of other auctions and try to pass it off as their own. Got an HK GBA game that way (pic was of a PAL box). :(

Now i get this email from the Paper Mario n64 seller when I questioned her about the photo of the complete game:
Perhaps you could tell me what it is exactly you would like to see...It's
not that I refuse to show potential buyers the actual items it's just that
generally speaking it's pointless to provide a picture of a single game or
DVD. None of the 30+ items I have up have pictures except for the game
system (which has added accessories.)
I'm an honest seller (see my feedback) and always happy to work with
potential buyers, but don't know what it is you have in mind that you'd like
a picture of.

If the seller only shows a stock photo, I don't buy the item. I make it a point to NOT use stock photos at all. They're deceptive.

If I am looking for an item for its functionality, I don't care. However, if box condition matters, which usually applies for collectibles, I won't bid if there's only a stock photo, unless it's an obscenely low price.

Seller finally broke down and posted a real photo with her auction. :)
