I've decided to put my first banana post to good use by announcing that the fantastic role-playing game Suikoden was released in Japan for the Sega Saturn. Who knew? I sure didn't. But the proof is right there on Greg Wilcox's Japanese Gaming web site.

I'm sure that Greg will be glad to know that Paul's site is now his :) lol

But yeah, Suikoden was released for Saturn...supposedly a better version too. It's also MUCH rarer for the Saturn in Japan than for the PSX here.

I've always wanted to try out the Saturn version of Suikoden, just to see what these supposed improvements over the PSX edition might be. I'd also like to find out what goes on in the Genso Suiko Gaiden digital comics. I remember a site that had summaries, but its name escapes me.

Here's a related factoid: Tactics Ogre and Ogre Battle were released on the Japanese Saturn by River Hill Software, known for the early "survival horror" titles Dr. Hauzer and Overblood.

lol! yah- i've been hyping the site to death, because paul's too busy with work and all, but a load of that stuff there is mine, so it's all good. there's also a saturn vandal hearts, which i believe is pretty much the same as the playstation version (it's one of the few unopened games i have)- i'll probably get to it one of these months... :-D

The only real difference were a few mini games. Still, it is Suikoden. No reason to not pick up that gem if you can find it. I use Japanese games as practice for reading my Kanji, if you've ever wanted to start studying Japanese, that's an excellent (and fun) way to practice.
